If riding Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is on your Disney World must-do list this fall, you’ll want to check your dates.

A major Magic Kingdom attraction is officially heading down for refurbishment.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will close beginning November 2, 2026, temporarily taking one of Magic Kingdom’s popular attractions out of the lineup. And the ride won’t be the only thing closing.

The neighboring Critter Co-Op and Tiana’s Bayou General will also close during the refurbishment, meaning guests will temporarily lose several pieces of the attraction’s surrounding experience at the same time. There’s also one particularly important detail if you’re planning a November or winter Disney World vacation: Disney hasn’t announced when Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will reopen.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will officially begin its refurbishment on Monday, November 2, 2026. Disney has not announced exactly what work will take place while the attraction is closed, so we wouldn’t assume the refurbishment signals any specific changes to scenes, characters, effects, or the attraction itself unless Disney confirms them.

What we do know is that a temporary closure of a water attraction during the cooler months isn’t particularly unusual at Walt Disney World. These attractions operate in a challenging environment. Ride vehicles, water systems, outdoor sets, landscaping, show elements, and other components are exposed to Florida’s weather and operate for long hours throughout the year.

Winter also gives Disney a more practical opportunity to perform maintenance on a ride where getting soaked isn’t necessarily quite as appealing as it is in July.

Still, this closure is notable because Tiana’s Bayou Adventure did not undergo a comparable full scheduled refurbishment last year. Instead, the attraction closed early on several dates so work could be completed without taking the ride offline for one extended refurbishment period. For 2026, Disney is taking a different approach.

And because there is currently no reopening date attached to the refurbishment, guests visiting after November 2 shouldn’t count on being able to ride until Disney updates its operating calendar.

There’s another detail that’s easy to miss if you only focus on the attraction itself. Critter Co-Op and Tiana’s Bayou General will close along with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Both locations are part of the larger area surrounding the attraction.

Critter Co-Op serves as a themed merchandise location connected to the characters and story of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, while Tiana’s Bayou General is another piece of the attraction’s surrounding environment.

Having all three locations close simultaneously suggests guests should expect this section of the park to feel noticeably different while the refurbishment is underway. If there’s attraction-specific merchandise you’ve been planning to pick up during a November trip, that’s also worth keeping in mind.

Disney has not announced whether merchandise normally sold at the affected locations will temporarily move elsewhere during the closure. Any attraction closure matters at Magic Kingdom, but losing Tiana’s Bayou Adventure can have an effect beyond simply removing one ride from your itinerary.

It’s a major attraction with substantial hourly capacity, which means guests who would normally be waiting for Tiana could instead distribute themselves among other Magic Kingdom attractions. That doesn’t guarantee dramatically longer waits across the park, crowd levels, operating hours, weather, special events, and other attraction availability all play a role, but it’s something we’d keep in mind when planning a visit during the refurbishment.

The timing also overlaps with one of the busiest stretches of Magic Kingdom’s seasonal calendar. By November, Walt Disney World is transitioning fully into the holiday season, and Magic Kingdom typically becomes a major draw for Christmas decorations and seasonal entertainment.

So if you’re visiting during the closure, having a little more flexibility in your touring plan could be helpful. And if Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is a priority, check Disney’s official operating calendar again as your trip gets closer. Because Disney has not announced a reopening date, the situation could change as refurbishment work progresses.

A closed attraction doesn’t mean Tiana herself is disappearing from Walt Disney World.

Guests hoping to meet the princess can typically find her at Princess Fairytale Hall in Magic Kingdom, although Disney can rotate character appearances. It’s always a good idea to check the My Disney Experience app or the signage outside the location on the day of your visit before joining the queue.

There’s another option outside Magic Kingdom, too. Princess Tiana appears at 1900 Park Fare at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, where the character dining experience also features Cinderella, Mirabel, and Aladdin. That can be a particularly useful alternative for families with a major Tiana fan who happen to be visiting while the attraction is unavailable.

You don’t have to be staying at the Grand Floridian to dine at 1900 Park Fare, although advance dining reservations are strongly recommended. The Grand Floridian is also located along the Magic Kingdom monorail loop, making it relatively convenient to pair the meal with a Magic Kingdom day.

Of course, meeting Tiana isn’t exactly a replacement for plunging down the final drop of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. But at least nobody has to walk around in wet socks afterward.
