Magic Kingdom is getting an extra parade this October…but you’ll only have ONE day to catch it!
Disney World guests visiting Magic Kingdom on October 23rd, 2026, could stumble upon something that isn’t normally part of the park’s entertainment lineup. The Grand Diwali Parade is returning as part of the 2026 Diwali Dance Fest, bringing more than 500 performers from around the world right down Main Street, U.S.A.
And while the Magic Kingdom parade may be the most interesting part for guests who already have a Disney World vacation planned, it’s actually just one piece of a larger Diwali celebration taking place across EPCOT, Magic Kingdom, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom in October.
The 2026 Diwali Dance Fest festivities are scheduled for October 22nd through October 25th, beginning with the Jashn-E-Magic Diwali Mela on Thursday, October 22nd. This year’s opening celebration is headed to EPCOT for the first time, although there’s an important distinction for regular park guests: the event is listed as a private celebration for performers and registered guests.
Things get particularly interesting for regular Disney World visitors the following afternoon.
On Friday, October 23rd, more than 500 dancers and performers from around the world are scheduled to participate in the Grand Diwali Parade along Main Street, U.S.A. at Magic Kingdom. The parade is scheduled to take place between 1 PM and 2 PM.
That’s worth keeping in mind if you already have an October 23rd Magic Kingdom park day planned. Unlike one of Disney’s regularly scheduled parades, this is special-event entertainment with an extremely limited opportunity to see it. It also means guests arriving around midday may encounter a particularly lively Main Street, and potentially different crowd conditions while the parade is taking place.
The celebration then moves over to Disney’s Animal Kingdom on Saturday, October 24th for the International Dance Showcase. The showcase will feature performances from 25 international dance studios, along with a special performance by TESHER, with CBS’s Shanelle Kaul serving as host. Doors are scheduled to open at 6 PM.
Unlike simply catching the Magic Kingdom parade during your park day, however, the Animal Kingdom showcase requires some additional planning. Guests need both admission to Disney’s Animal Kingdom and a separate showcase ticket to enter the theater.
The biggest takeaway for most Walt Disney World vacationers is the date: October 23rd.
If you’re already planning to visit Magic Kingdom that Friday, the Grand Diwali Parade essentially becomes a bonus piece of entertainment that you won’t normally find during a standard day at the park.
October is already an unusual time for Magic Kingdom entertainment because Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party takes over the park on select evenings. That separately ticketed event brings its own Halloween entertainment, including Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade. The Grand Diwali Parade gives guests visiting at the right time another particularly limited parade experience during an already entertainment-heavy season.
And it’s also a pretty unique way for Disney World guests to experience Diwali.
Often called the Festival of Lights, Diwali is celebrated by millions of people around the world, with traditions centered around light and the triumph of light over darkness. Bringing hundreds of dancers together on one of Walt Disney World’s most recognizable streets gives visitors an opportunity to encounter that celebration in a setting where they may not have expected it.
That’s a pretty rare Disney World entertainment experience, and unlike a new attraction or permanent show, missing this one really does mean missing it.
