Theme park news moves fast. Theme Park Scope helps you keep it all in focus.

Theme Park Scope was created with one goal: to make it easier for theme park fans and travelers to understand what’s happening at the places they love — and what those changes actually mean for their next visit.

From major attraction announcements and construction updates to new food, merchandise, seasonal events, discounts, entertainment, and those blink-and-you’ll-miss-it changes happening around the parks, Theme Park Scope keeps an eye on the details so you don’t have to.

Our coverage focuses primarily on Walt Disney World, Disneyland Resort, Universal Orlando Resort, Universal Studios Hollywood, Disney Cruise Line, and the greater theme park and entertainment industry, with firsthand reporting from Central Florida whenever possible.

Because around here, there’s always something new coming into view.

What We Cover

Theme Park Scope covers the stories theme park fans want to know — whether you’re planning a vacation or simply want to know what’s changing at your favorite parks.

Disney Parks

From Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom to Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, we follow what’s happening throughout Disney’s theme parks.

That includes new attractions, construction projects, refurbishments, entertainment changes, restaurants, resorts, festivals, seasonal events, ticket updates, discounts, merchandise, and plenty of smaller changes you might not notice until your next trip.

Universal Parks & Resorts

We’re keeping Universal in scope, too.

Theme Park Scope follows Universal Orlando Resort, including Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, Volcano Bay, and Universal Epic Universe, along with Universal Studios Hollywood and other major Universal destinations and developments.

Expect coverage of new attractions, park expansions, resorts, food, merchandise, entertainment, operational changes, and everything else happening across Universal.

And when Halloween rolls around, you can expect plenty of Halloween Horror Nights coverage, too.

Theme Park News & Construction

Sometimes the most interesting theme park stories begin long before an attraction opens.

We follow construction, permits, closures, refurbishments, attraction testing, concept art, official announcements, and other developments to help readers follow a project from announcement to opening day.

When something changes in the parks, we want to know what changed, why it matters, and what guests should expect next.

Food, Merchandise & Seasonal Events

Theme parks aren’t just about rides.

We cover new menus, limited-time treats, festival food, popcorn buckets, merchandise collections, holiday offerings, Halloween events, Christmas celebrations, festivals, and other seasonal experiences throughout the year.

Whether it’s something worth adding to your vacation plans or simply something fun happening inside the parks, you’ll find it here.

Travel, Discounts & Vacation Planning

Theme Park Scope isn’t only about what’s new — it’s also about helping you use that information.

We cover vacation offers, ticket promotions, resort discounts, planning tips, special events, transportation changes, and other information that can make a real difference when planning a theme park vacation.

Our goal isn’t simply to tell you that something changed.

We want to help you understand how that change could affect your trip.

Entertainment

The stories inside the theme parks often begin outside their gates.

Theme Park Scope also covers select entertainment news from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Universal, and other major franchises and studios, including upcoming movies and television projects, Disney+, major announcements, D23, and entertainment developments connected to the world’s theme park fans already love.

What Makes Theme Park Scope Different?

There are a lot of places to get theme park news.

We don’t want to simply be another one.

We Pay Attention to the Details

A new attraction announcement is exciting.

But when does it open? Where is it going? What is it replacing? When does construction begin? Will something close before it opens? What does the concept art show? And, most importantly, what does any of that mean if you’re planning a vacation?

Those are the questions we’re interested in answering.

Theme Park Scope is built around looking beyond the headline and putting the bigger picture into focus.

We’re In the Parks

Whenever possible, our reporting comes directly from the destinations we’re covering.

That means walking the parks, photographing construction, checking menus, watching attractions change, attending seasonal events, seeing new merchandise, trying new food, and noticing those little details that can be difficult to understand from a press release alone.

Firsthand experience gives us something incredibly valuable: context.

And context can make all the difference when you’re trying to decide what matters for your next trip.

We’re Fans, But We’re Independent

We love theme parks.

That’s exactly why we’re interested in covering them accurately.

Theme Park Scope is an independent publication and is not owned, operated, endorsed by, or officially affiliated with The Walt Disney Company, Universal Destinations & Experiences, NBCUniversal, or the other companies and destinations we cover.

That independence matters.

We’re here to report what’s happening, share what we experience, and provide readers with useful information — whether the news is exciting, disappointing, complicated, or somewhere in between.

We Want to Be Useful

Theme park news shouldn’t exist just to generate another headline.

If Disney changes a policy, we want you to understand how it affects your vacation.

If Universal announces something new, we want you to know when you’ll actually be able to experience it.

If a popular event changes its ticketing structure, we want to break down what you’ll need to do differently.

And if something is worth knowing before you walk through the gates, we want to make sure it’s on your radar.

Useful information will always be at the heart of Theme Park Scope.

Who’s Behind Theme Park Scope?

Jonathan Juarez — Founder, Editor & Creator

Hi, I’m Jonathan Juarez, the founder and editor behind Theme Park Scope.

I’ve spent years immersed in the theme park and travel industries as a writer, content creator, photographer, producer, and travel professional, but long before any of those titles, I was simply someone who genuinely loved theme parks.

And I’m still that person.

I’m fascinated by the details.

I want to know what’s behind that construction wall. I want to see what’s different from last week. I want to know when reservations open, what changed on the menu, why an attraction suddenly closed, what Disney just filed a permit for, what Universal is building next, and what all of it means for the people planning their vacations.

That curiosity eventually became Theme Park Scope.

I created this site as a place where I could combine my experience covering theme parks with my understanding of how people actually plan and experience these vacations.

Because there’s a difference between knowing that something changed and knowing whether that change matters to you.

My goal with Theme Park Scope is to bridge that gap.

Whether you’re an Annual Passholder who visits every week, someone saving for a once-in-a-lifetime Disney vacation, a Halloween Horror Nights fanatic counting down to September, or someone who just loves keeping up with what’s happening in the parks, I want Theme Park Scope to feel like the place you can check to quickly get caught up.

No matter how often you visit, there’s always something new to discover.

Our Approach to Reporting

Accuracy matters to us.

Theme Park Scope reports through a combination of firsthand observations, original photography and reporting, official company announcements, press releases, public information, company representatives, and other credible sources.

When another journalist or publication breaks a story first, we believe in appropriately crediting the original reporting.

When something is a rumor, we’ll tell you it’s a rumor.

When something is confirmed, we’ll tell you what’s confirmed.

And when information changes (because in the theme park world it frequently does), we’ll work to update our coverage accordingly.

Theme park fans deserve to know the difference between what we know, what we think, and what hasn’t been confirmed yet.

More Than Just the Headline

The theme park industry has become enormous.

A single week can bring attraction announcements, restaurant openings, construction milestones, ticket changes, new discounts, entertainment news, merchandise releases, resort updates, movie announcements, special-event details, and dozens of smaller developments.

Keeping track of all of it can feel like a full-time job.

For us, it kind of is.

Theme Park Scope exists to bring those stories together, put them into context, and help you figure out what deserves your attention.

Because sometimes the biggest theme park story of the week isn’t the biggest announcement.

It’s the tiny detail buried somewhere inside it.

And you can bet we’re looking for it.
