A frightening incident at Disneyland is serving as an important reminder to always remain seated on Disney attractions.

A young guest exited a ride vehicle on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disneyland Park on the evening of June 21, prompting Cast Members to immediately stop the attraction before the guest slid down the ride’s final drop area. The incident occurred at approximately 6 PM, according to reports.

According to witness accounts, the 13-year-old guest climbed out of the ride vehicle near the top of the attraction’s iconic final descent and slid down the flume toward the bottom of the approximately 50-foot drop. Disney Cast Members immediately activated the ride’s emergency stop procedures after noticing the guest had left the vehicle.

As a precaution, the guest was transported to a local hospital for evaluation before being released. Disney has not publicly indicated that any serious injuries were sustained.

Safety Systems Worked as Designed

While incidents like this are extremely rare, Disney attractions are equipped with multiple safety systems designed to stop ride vehicles when unexpected situations occur.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, like all Disney attractions, instructs guests to remain seated with hands, arms, feet, and legs inside the ride vehicle throughout the experience. Leaving a ride vehicle while an attraction is in motion can create a dangerous situation for both the guest involved and others on the attraction.

A Reminder for Every Disney Guest

Disney has not released additional details regarding what prompted the guest to leave the ride vehicle, and no further information has been shared publicly.

While stories like this understandably attract attention, they also serve as an important reminder that attraction safety instructions are there to protect everyone. Remaining seated until instructed otherwise by Cast Members is one of the simplest, and most important ways guests can help ensure a safe day at the parks.
