Heading to EPCOT today? You might want to double-check your morning plans because Walt Disney World has adjusted the park’s operating hours, and even guests staying at Disney Resort hotels will be getting a later start!

EPCOT is opening one hour later than usual today, Sunday, October 25, 2026, as Walt Disney World hosts the final day of the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend. Instead of its typical 9 AM opening, EPCOT will welcome regular day guests beginning at 10 AM, with Early Theme Park Entry starting at 9:30 AM for eligible hotel guests.

Disney

The adjustment comes as thousands of runners participate in the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon, which requires special transportation arrangements, temporary road closures, and coordination around the resort.

And if you’re planning to visit EPCOT today, there’s another important detail: the park is also hosting a separately ticketed post-race event tonight. Here’s everything you need to know before heading out.

EPCOT’s Updated Park Hours for October 25, 2026

Disney’s official operating calendar confirms the following schedule for Sunday, October 25:

ExperienceToday’s Hours
Early Theme Park Entry9:30 AM – 10 AM
Regular EPCOT park hours10 AM – 9 PM
Disney Wine & Dine Post-Race Party10 PM – 1 AM

For comparison, EPCOT ordinarily opens at 9 AM, with Early Theme Park Entry beginning at 8:30 AM. That means both regular guests and eligible resort hotel guests are starting their park day one hour later than normal. The park’s regular closing time remains 9 PM, giving daytime guests an 11-hour operating day.

The delayed opening does not mean EPCOT is closed for the day. Guests can still enjoy the park’s attractions, dining, shopping, and available entertainment once regular operations begin. However, the change is important for anyone who planned to arrive early to experience popular attractions before crowds build.

Why Is EPCOT Opening Later Today?

The delayed opening coincides with the 2026 Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon, the headline race of runDisney’s annual fall racing weekend. The event brings thousands of participants and spectators to Walt Disney World for several days of running, entertainment, and Disney-themed celebrations.

This year’s race weekend includes three main events:

  • Friday, October 23: Disney Wine & Dine 5K
  • Saturday, October 24: Disney Wine & Dine 10K
  • Sunday, October 25: Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon

The half marathon covers 13.1 miles through Walt Disney World property, requiring race organizers to coordinate transportation routes, runner access, and temporary road restrictions. EPCOT serves as a central location for the race weekend, and the park’s delayed opening helps accommodate the operational demands of the event.

This isn’t an unexpected closure or an indication that something is wrong at EPCOT. The later opening was included in Disney’s published operating calendar ahead of the weekend. In fact, EPCOT also opened at 10 AM on Friday, October 23, when the Wine & Dine 5K took place. Today marks the second delayed opening associated with this year’s race weekend.

Disney Resort Guests Are Also Affected

If you’re staying at a Disney Resort hotel and normally take advantage of Early Theme Park Entry, you’ll need to adjust your plans, too. The popular hotel benefit allows eligible guests to enter Walt Disney World theme parks 30 minutes before regular opening.

However, Early Entry at EPCOT begins at 9:30 AM today instead of the usual 8:30 AM. That means staying at an eligible Disney Resort hotel does not give you access to EPCOT at its normal opening time. Guests can still take advantage of the 30-minute early-entry window, but the entire schedule has shifted later.

Disney

If you were planning to head straight to attractions such as Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, or Frozen Ever After, you’ll want to account for the revised opening time. And remember, Early Theme Park Entry is available only to guests staying at Disney Resort hotels and other participating accommodations. Regular day guests should plan around the 10 AM opening.

Expect Transportation Changes Around Disney World

The delayed opening isn’t the only operational consideration today. Because the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon takes place across Walt Disney World property, temporary road closures and transportation adjustments may affect how guests travel between resorts and theme parks. Race participants begin their morning extremely early, and certain roads must remain clear while runners move along the course.

For guests driving to EPCOT, that could mean encountering detours or changes to familiar routes. Disney transportation services may also operate differently around affected areas while the race is underway. If you’re traveling to EPCOT this morning, allow extra time and follow posted transportation directions rather than assuming your usual route will be available.

Guests staying at Disney Resort hotels should also check with their resort’s transportation team for the latest bus and travel information. While the later park opening may give some families an opportunity to enjoy a more relaxed morning, the race itself can still create additional activity throughout the resort.

EPCOT Is Hosting a Special Event Tonight

There’s one more schedule detail worth mentioning. Following today’s regular park hours, EPCOT is scheduled to host the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend Post-Race Party. The celebration takes place from 10 PM until 1 AM, giving eligible participants and ticket holders an opportunity to enjoy a special evening at the park.

The post-race party is a separately ticketed event, meaning regular daytime EPCOT admission does not automatically include access. Guests attending EPCOT during normal operating hours should plan around the 9 PM closing time. The event provides a festive conclusion to race weekend, allowing runners and their guests to celebrate their accomplishments in a uniquely Disney setting. If you’re visiting EPCOT today but aren’t participating in the post-race celebration, you can still enjoy the park during its scheduled daytime hours.

What Should You Do If You’re Visiting EPCOT Today?

The most important thing is to adjust your expectations for the morning. If you’re a regular day guest, plan around the 10 AM opening. If you’re eligible for Early Theme Park Entry, your access begins at 9:30 AM.

Disney

It’s also worth checking the My Disney Experience app before leaving your hotel or home. The app provides current park hours, attraction information, dining availability, and other useful details that can help you make the most of your visit. And because race weekends can affect traffic throughout Walt Disney World, leaving a little extra travel time is a smart idea. You can also review the official EPCOT operating calendar for the latest schedule information.

My Take

I think this is one of those Disney World updates that might seem relatively minor until you’re actually the guest affected by it. An hour doesn’t sound like a huge difference, but when you’re planning a Disney park day, that hour can matter quite a bit. Especially if you’re someone who likes arriving early, taking advantage of lower morning wait times, and getting a few popular attractions out of the way before the park becomes busier.

What I appreciate is that this isn’t a last-minute surprise. Disney had the adjusted hours on its calendar ahead of race weekend, which gave guests an opportunity to plan accordingly. But I also know how easy it is to overlook a change like this, particularly if you’ve visited EPCOT several times and automatically assume the park will open at 9 AM. And that’s exactly why I think these reminders are important.

I also think it’s worth recognizing just how much coordination goes into a major runDisney weekend. Thousands of runners are navigating Walt Disney World property, roads are temporarily closed, transportation patterns change, and the resort still has to welcome regular vacation guests. That’s a lot happening behind the scenes. Personally, I’d much rather Disney adjust the park’s opening time than rush to reopen areas before race operations are completely finished. Guest safety, runner safety, and transportation logistics should absolutely take priority.

That said, I do think Disney could make these unusual operating days more noticeable to guests who aren’t actively checking the park calendar. When families are spending so much money on a vacation, they shouldn’t have to discover a schedule change only after arriving at the park entrance. A clear reminder through My Disney Experience and resort transportation channels can go a long way toward helping everyone start their day on the right foot. And if you’re visiting EPCOT today, my advice is to embrace the slightly later start.

Grab breakfast, give yourself extra travel time, and enjoy the park once it opens. You may be losing an hour of morning park time, but you don’t have to lose the magic of your Disney day.
