EPCOT’s World Celebration area is looking a little less reflective right now.

Guests walking through EPCOT may notice that one of the reflecting pools near World Celebration has been drained as Walt Disney World begins refurbishment work in the area.
The drained pool sits near the Imagination Pavilion and The Land Pavilion, close to the CommuniCore Plaza area. While the nearby ponds remain filled and reflective, this particular water feature is currently empty as crews appear to be sprucing up the space.
EPCOT Reflecting Pool Drained for Work
The drained reflecting pool has revealed the decorative river rock that normally lines the bottom of the water feature.
Crews have pulled up and pushed much of the river rock into piles throughout the empty basin, leaving areas of bare concrete and scattered gravel visible where water would typically sit.

A scaffolding setup with a metal staircase and wooden ramp now spans the retaining walls, giving workers access to the drained pool area.
Nearby, the raised circular planters filled with grasses and flowers remain intact and untouched. Rolling planter boxes with hedges have been placed along a nearby walkway, seemingly acting as temporary barriers while the work continues.
From the area, guests can still spot several familiar EPCOT icons in the background, including the monorail beam, the glass pyramids of the Imagination Pavilion, and Spaceship Earth.
Other Nearby Ponds Remain Filled
While this World Celebration reflecting pool has been drained, other nearby ponds are still filled with water and reflecting as normal.

That makes this particular area stand out a bit more for guests walking through EPCOT, especially since the drained basin gives a rare look at what sits below the surface of one of the park’s scenic water features.
Disney May Also Be Collecting Loose Change
One small but interesting detail: drained Disney water features often reveal coins tossed in by guests over time.
Back in 2022, Walt Disney World shared that it donated more than $30,000 to Give Kids the World after draining and collecting coins from fountains around the theme parks.

While Disney has not announced whether coins collected from this EPCOT reflecting pool will be included in a similar donation, the refurbishment could provide another opportunity to gather loose change from the drained water feature.
A Small but Noticeable EPCOT Update
This is not a major attraction closure or construction project, but it is a noticeable update in one of EPCOT’s most visible guest areas.
World Celebration has seen plenty of changes in recent years, and this reflecting pool refurbishment appears to be another round of maintenance aimed at keeping the area fresh for guests.

For now, visitors can still walk through the area and enjoy the surrounding gardens, views, and nearby pavilions while the pool remains drained.
