Just when it looked like construction might be winding down, Disney filed another permit.

Disney

Walt Disney World may not have the massive construction walls currently dominating areas of Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but that doesn’t mean work has completely stopped at EPCOT. In fact, Disney has just filed a new permit connected to one of the park’s most recognizable World Showcase pavilions.

The permit is tied to EPCOT’s Mexico Pavilion, where refurbishment work has been ongoing since February 2026. Over the past several months, guests have encountered scaffolding, themed scrims, and occasional pathway adjustments around the exterior of the pavilion as crews continue work on the iconic pyramid structure.

According to the permit filing, the project includes providing labor, materials, and electrical services related to ongoing construction work at the pavilion. While the description is fairly broad, it indicates that Disney’s refurbishment efforts are not quite finished yet.

The good news for guests is that despite the visible construction, the Mexico Pavilion has remained largely operational throughout the project.

Visitors can still explore the pavilion’s shops, dining locations, and cultural exhibits. Most importantly for many EPCOT fans, Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros has remained open following its recent refurbishment and continues welcoming guests inside the pavilion.

Disney also reportedly filed additional permits related to elevator maintenance within the pavilion, suggesting that some of the work happening behind the scenes may involve infrastructure improvements as well as exterior refurbishment.

While permit filings often spark speculation among Disney fans, there is currently nothing in the documentation indicating a major attraction overhaul or significant changes to the pavilion’s offerings. Instead, the permits appear to be tied to the ongoing refurbishment project that has been visible to guests for several months.

Refurbishment earlier

The Mexico Pavilion remains one of the most popular destinations in EPCOT’s World Showcase, drawing guests for its architecture, dining experiences, shopping, and the beloved Three Caballeros attraction. Maintaining the pavilion is particularly important as EPCOT continues welcoming guests for seasonal festivals and summer offerings throughout 2026.

Compared to other Walt Disney World parks, EPCOT is currently experiencing relatively minor construction impacts. Recent additions such as Cool Kids’ Summer offerings and the return of GoofyCore to CommuniCore Hall have helped keep the park feeling fresh while refurbishment projects continue behind the scenes.

Disney

For now, guests planning a visit to EPCOT shouldn’t expect major disruptions at the Mexico Pavilion. However, the newly filed permit confirms that Disney’s work in the area is still ongoing, meaning construction walls and refurbishment activity will likely remain part of the landscape for a little while longer.
