Disney isn’t just building a new ride or two.

Disney

Across Walt Disney World, Disneyland Resort, and Disney parks around the globe, Disney currently has seven major themed lands under construction, bringing worlds inspired by Disney Animation, Pixar, Lucasfilm, and more to life. From villains and monsters to racecars and superheroes, these projects represent some of the largest expansions Disney has undertaken in years.

Here’s a look at every major Disney land currently under construction and where things stand today.

Villains Land — Magic Kingdom

Perhaps the most anticipated Disney project currently in development, Villains Land is coming to Magic Kingdom and will be dedicated entirely to Disney’s most iconic villains. Disney has confirmed the land will feature two major attractions, dining, and shopping experiences, though specific ride details remain under wraps.

Construction has accelerated following the closure of Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America area. Recent aerial photos show significant site clearing and active work occurring beyond Frontierland as Disney prepares for what it has called the largest expansion in Magic Kingdom history.

Piston Peak National Park — Magic Kingdom

Located adjacent to Villains Land, Piston Peak National Park will bring Pixar’s Cars franchise into Magic Kingdom. Disney has revealed the area will feature a visitor lodge, Ranger HQ, trails, and two new Cars-themed attractions.

Piston Peak construction

Like Villains Land, construction is actively underway in the former Rivers of America area, with large portions of the project site already cleared. The expansion will significantly reshape the northwest corner of Magic Kingdom.

Monstropolis — Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Monstropolis is rapidly taking shape at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on the former Grand Avenue and Muppets Courtyard footprint. The land is inspired by Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. and will immerse guests in the city of Monstropolis after the events of the original film.

The headlining attraction will be Disney’s first-ever suspended roller coaster, taking guests through the famous door vault. Disney has also confirmed themed dining, shopping, and additional entertainment experiences. Recent behind-the-scenes previews show substantial progress as construction continues behind the walls.

Tropical Americas — Disney’s Animal Kingdom

One of the largest transformations currently happening at Walt Disney World is Tropical Americas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Replacing DinoLand U.S.A., the new land will be centered around Pueblo Esperanza and will include:

  • An Encanto attraction inside Casita
  • An all-new Indiana Jones adventure
  • A Disney animal-themed carousel
  • New dining and shopping experiences

Disney has confirmed the land is scheduled to open in 2027, and visible demolition and construction work continue throughout the former DinoLand footprint.

Avengers Campus Expansion — Disney California Adventure

Disney California Adventure is currently undergoing one of the largest expansions in the history of Avengers Campus.

KTLA

The expansion will add two major attractions:

Avengers Infinity Defense

This new attraction will send guests through the Marvel multiverse alongside the Avengers in a large-scale adventure featuring heroes and villains from across Marvel storytelling. Construction is actively underway in the expansion area behind Avengers Campus.

Stark Flight Lab

Stark Flight Lab will give guests the chance to test new technology created by Tony Stark. The attraction will feature ride vehicles attached to robotic arms, creating a unique flying experience unlike anything currently offered at Disney parks.

Pride Lands — Disney Adventure World (Disneyland Paris)

Construction continues on the first-ever Disney theme park land dedicated entirely to The Lion King at Disneyland Paris’ Disney Adventure World. Known as Pride Lands, the expansion will feature a massive Pride Rock centerpiece and a major water-based attraction that combines thrill ride elements with next-generation Audio-Animatronics and iconic songs from the 1994 animated film.

Disney

Disney has already confirmed construction is underway, making this one of the most anticipated international Disney projects currently in development. The land will also include themed dining, shopping, and character experiences inspired by Simba’s journey through the Pride Lands.

Avatar Land — Disney California Adventure

Disney is also moving forward with a new Avatar-inspired land at Disney California Adventure as part of the DisneylandForward expansion plans. While Disney has not yet revealed the full scope of the project, the experience is expected to be based on the wider world of Pandora and future Avatar films rather than serving as a duplicate of Pandora — The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Disney

The expansion will replace the current Hollywood Backlot area and is expected to include a major new attraction, immersive environments, themed dining, and retail offerings. The project represents one of the largest additions currently planned for Disneyland Resort and will play a major role in the resort’s long-term expansion strategy.

Spider-Man Expansion – Hong Kong Disneyland

Hong Kong Disneyland is expanding its Marvel offerings with a new Spider-Man attraction in Stark Expo.

Disney

While Disney has released limited details about the experience, construction is underway as part of the park’s ongoing Marvel transformation. The addition continues Hong Kong Disneyland’s position as one of Disney’s most Marvel-focused destinations worldwide.

Disney’s Biggest Construction Era in Years

Taken together, these seven projects represent billions of dollars in Disney Parks investment and one of the most aggressive expansion periods the company has undertaken in recent years. From Magic Kingdom’s massive Villains Land and Piston Peak expansion to Monstropolis, Tropical Americas, Avengers Campus, Pride Lands, Avatar Land, and Spider-Man, Disney fans will have no shortage of new experiences to look forward to over the next several years.

Disney

And judging by the amount of construction currently visible around the world, Disney’s next generation of theme park expansions is only just getting started.
