A major Disney World leadership era is officially coming to an end.

Jeff Vahle, the current president of Walt Disney World, has announced that he will retire from The Walt Disney Company later this summer after an impressive 36-year career with Disney.
Vahle shared the news with Disney Cast Members before publicly announcing his retirement on LinkedIn on May 11th. According to multiple reports, he will remain in his role as Walt Disney World president through late July 2026.
Vahle has served as president of Walt Disney World Resort since May 2020, taking over during one of the most challenging periods in Disney Parks history as the company navigated pandemic-era closures and reopening procedures.

In his retirement message, Vahle reflected on beginning his Disney career as an engineer at Magic Kingdom before eventually leading Walt Disney World Resort through a massive period of growth and expansion.
Vahle Oversaw a Massive Era of Disney World Expansion
During his time leading Walt Disney World, Vahle helped oversee the launch and development of several major Disney projects, attractions, and entertainment offerings across the resort.
Some of the biggest additions during his tenure included:
- TRON Lightcycle / Run
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
- Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana
- Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
- Country Bear Musical Jamboree
- New nighttime spectaculars at EPCOT and Magic Kingdom
He also helped guide the resort through Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebration and ongoing expansion plans for the future, including new lands and attraction projects currently in development.
No Replacement Has Been Announced Yet
At this time, Disney has not publicly announced who will replace Vahle as president of Walt Disney World Resort.
Before stepping down later this summer, Vahle noted there are still several major Walt Disney World projects and offerings launching in the coming months, including Cool KIDS’ Summer, the updated Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, and the upcoming Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets changes.

For longtime Disney fans and Cast Members alike, Vahle’s retirement marks the end of a significant chapter for Walt Disney World Resort during one of the most transformative eras in recent Disney Parks history.
