Hondo Ohnaka may have finally crossed the line this time!

Behind the Thrills

Disney just revealed a first look at the updated preshow coming to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and let’s just say…the galaxy’s favorite pirate appears to be straight-up stealing the Millennium Falcon now. With the highly anticipated Mandalorian and Grogu mission arriving later this month at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland, this new storyline twist is already getting fans talking.

A brand-new preshow sequence for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run has officially been revealed ahead of the attraction’s major update debuting on May 22, 2026, at both Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland.

The updated version of the attraction ties directly into Disney and Lucasfilm’s upcoming The Mandalorian & Grogu storyline, bringing Din Djarin and Grogu into the experience for an entirely new mission aboard the Millennium Falcon.

But honestly? The biggest surprise may be what happens before guests even board the ship.

Hondo Ohnaka Appears to Be “Borrowing” the Falcon Without Permission

According to footage shared online, the updated preshow still features Hondo Ohnaka and his droid companion R5, along with a brief appearance from Chewbacca.

In the original version of Smugglers Run, Hondo explains that he has an agreement with Chewie allowing him to use the Millennium Falcon for coaxium-running missions connected to the Resistance. But the new dialogue reportedly changes that story entirely.

This time, Hondo reassures Chewbacca that leaving the Falcon with him is “perfectly safe” before abruptly ending the transmission and turning to guests with the line: “I found you the perfect ship!”

Fans immediately noticed the implication: Hondo may not actually have permission to take the Falcon at all.

The Mandalorian and Grogu Update Arrives May 22

Disney previously confirmed that the new Mandalorian and Grogu version of Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run will officially debut on May 22, 2026, the same day the new film releases in theaters.

The update will introduce a more customizable adventure experience where guests can help Din Djarin and Grogu track former Imperial officers across the galaxy. Disney has also confirmed riders may visit locations like Coruscant, Bespin, Endor, and Tatooine, depending on the mission choices made during the attraction.

Another new feature will reportedly allow engineers to interact directly with Grogu during the mission itself.

Smugglers Run Is Getting a BIG New Era

Since opening in 2019 inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run has remained one of Disney’s most interactive attractions, allowing guests to pilot, gun, or engineer the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy.

But this upcoming update feels like Disney is pushing the attraction into a whole new chapter — one that leans even harder into live storytelling, evolving missions, and fan-favorite characters from modern Star Wars.

And if this chaotic new Hondo preshow is any indication, things are about to get a LOT messier aboard the Falcon.
