Disney Reveals New Cast Member Costumes for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
One of the most recognizable traditions of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is getting a surprising makeover this year.

Ahead of the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party of the season on August 7, Disney has introduced brand-new Cast Member costumes for the event, replacing the bright, whimsical outfits that have become a familiar sight around Magic Kingdom for years.
The redesigned costumes lean into a much darker, more sophisticated Halloween aesthetic while still incorporating playful bat-inspired details.
Based on the new costume guide shared with Cast Members, the updated wardrobe features a black short-sleeved button-up shirt covered in an all-over pattern of colorful bats in shades of purple, green, and red.
The shirt is paired with either:
- Deep forest-green trousers
- Matching forest-green shorts
Accessories vary depending on the role, with Cast Members wearing either:
- A pair of purple bat-wing headbands or hair accessories
- A purple bat-wing bow tie
The look is completed with a black belt, black shoes, black socks, a Disney name tag, and an optional black jacket for cooler evenings.

Overall, the new costumes feel much more polished and understated than previous versions while still keeping Halloween front and center through the bat-inspired accessories.
A Big Departure From the Previous Costumes
For longtime party guests, the change is immediately noticeable.
The previous Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party costumes had become something of an icon over the past several years. They featured:
- Bright orange-and-purple plaid bottoms or skirts
- Lime green and purple bat-print tops
- Bold color blocking
- Oversized bat-wing accessories
- A playful, almost homemade Halloween costume aesthetic
The colorful combinations perfectly matched the lighthearted spirit of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, making Cast Members easy to spot while reinforcing the event’s family-friendly atmosphere.

The new design takes a different approach.
Instead of bright oranges and contrasting plaids, Disney has opted for a darker palette dominated by black and deep green, accented with jewel-toned bats and subtle Halloween touches. The result feels more refined, with a look that arguably fits alongside attractions like Haunted Mansion and the increasingly atmospheric entertainment found throughout the party.
Fans Already Have Opinions
Although Disney has not formally announced the wardrobe change, photos of the new costumes have quickly circulated online ahead of the season’s opening night.
As with many changes at Walt Disney World, reactions have been mixed.

Some fans appreciate the cleaner, more modern appearance and believe the darker colors better complement the event’s Halloween atmosphere. Others say they’ll miss the bright orange-and-purple costumes that had become closely associated with Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party over the years.
Since the costumes have been part of the event for so long, it’s understandable that the new look has sparked plenty of discussion before guests have even seen Cast Members wearing them in the park.
You’ll See Them Beginning August 7
The updated costumes will make their public debut during the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party of 2026 on August 7.
Guests attending this year’s event will be among the first to see the redesigned wardrobe in action as Cast Members help welcome visitors for an evening of trick-or-treating, exclusive character meet-and-greets, Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade, Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular, the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, and more.

Whether the darker, more elegant costumes become as beloved as the colorful originals remains to be seen, but they’re certain to be one of the first noticeable changes returning guests encounter when they walk through the gates of Magic Kingdom this Halloween season.
