Frontierland continues to change fast at Magic Kingdom!

Disney has now permanently closed Big Al’s merchandise kiosk in Frontierland as work continues preparing the area for the upcoming Piston Peak expansion project. And based on another nearby operational update, it looks like even more Frontierland changes could be coming VERY soon.
The small Big Al-themed merchandise kiosk located in Frontierland has now officially closed permanently.
The kiosk has already been cleared from the area as Disney continues making room for construction tied to the future Piston Peak expansion.

Big Al’s stand had long served as a small merchandise location themed around the fan-favorite Country Bear Jamboree character and sat near the Rivers of America section of Frontierland.

Its removal marks yet another visible step in Disney’s ongoing transformation plans for this section of Magic Kingdom.
Westward Ho May Be Next
Meanwhile, the nearby quick-service location Westward Ho is currently only displaying operating hours through June 22.

While Disney has not officially announced a closure for the location, the limited posted schedule is already fueling speculation among fans that additional Frontierland closures may soon follow as construction expands further into the area.
At this time, Disney has not confirmed any permanent closure plans for Westward Ho.

The closures come as Disney continues early preparation work connected to the upcoming Piston Peak expansion planned for Magic Kingdom.
The project is expected to dramatically transform portions of Frontierland and the Rivers of America area over the next several years.
Disney previously confirmed the new land will take inspiration from the Pacific Northwest wilderness setting seen in Pixar’s Cars franchise, particularly the Piston Peak National Park environment introduced through Disney Parks concepts.
Over the past several months, Disney has continued quietly preparing the area through operational adjustments, merchandise location removals, construction staging, expanded permit activity, and reduced operating schedules in nearby locations.

While many details surrounding the full scope of construction remain unannounced, the permanent closure of Big Al’s kiosk is one of the clearest visible signs that the physical transformation of the land is actively moving forward.
