Universal’s Volcano Bay water park is closing for scheduled maintenance on October 26, and it won’t be back until on or before April 1, 2027.
If a Volcano Bay day was part of your fall or winter Universal trip, this is the update that changes your plans.
The closure covers roughly six months, running from late October straight through the end of winter. Universal’s other three parks, Universal Studios Florida, Universal’s Islands of Adventure, and Epic Universe, all stay open as normal, so this closure is specific to the water park rather than a resort-wide shutdown. If you’re building a multi-day Universal itinerary for this window, Volcano Bay simply won’t be an option, and you’ll want to plan your park days around the three that remain available.
Seasonal closures like this aren’t unusual for Volcano Bay. Cooler Central Florida temperatures through the winter months mean the water park typically sees lighter crowds during that stretch anyway, which makes it a practical window for Universal to handle scheduled maintenance without pulling guests away from a peak-attendance day. Still, a roughly six-month closure is a longer stretch than a routine touch-up, so anyone specifically planning a Volcano Bay visit for late 2026 or early 2027 should treat October 25 as the real deadline.
If you’ve got a trip booked during the closure window and Volcano Bay was the plan for at least one day, it’s worth building in a replacement now rather than discovering the closure once you’re already there. Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure both offer plenty to fill a day, and Epic Universe remains the newest addition to the lineup if you haven’t made it there yet.
