Dancing with the Stars Season 35 moved into its regular weekly format with Viral Hits Night, and the leaderboard delivered a genuine rarity: a three-way tie for first place.

If you missed Tuesday’s episode, here’s the full rundown of who soared, who struggled, and who got sent home.

The theme sent all 14 remaining couples to routines inspired by some of the internet’s biggest viral moments and songs. At the top of the leaderboard, three couples tied with 21 out of 30 points apiece: Jenna Dewan and pro partner Val Chmerkovskiy, Ezra Frech and pro partner Daniella Karagach, and Amber Glenn and pro partner Pasha Pashkov. Ezra and Daniella’s cha-cha reportedly drew a standing ovation in the ballroom, a strong showing for a partnership that’s clearly finding its footing early this season.

Just behind the leaders, Maura Higgins and pro partner Mark Ballas turned in a foxtrot that scored 19 out of 30, while a cluster of couples, including Ciara Miller and Brandon Armstrong, Jackson Olson and Emma Slater, Harry Shum Jr. and Jenna Johnson, and Tatyana Ali and Jan Ravnik, all landed in the 18-point range.

At the bottom of the leaderboard, Giada De Laurentiis and pro partner Alan Bersten scored a 12 out of 30 for their salsa, tying with Guillermo Rodriguez and pro partner Witney Carson, who also finished with 12 points. When the judges’ scores were combined with America’s votes, Giada De Laurentiis and Alan Bersten were sent home, becoming Season 35’s second elimination after the two-night premiere already trimmed the field.

It’s a tough way to go for a couple that had been steadily building momentum, and it’s a reminder of just how unforgiving Week 2 tends to be, since a single rough night is often enough to end a season before it really gets going. With three couples now tied at the top of the leaderboard, though, Season 35 is shaping up to be one of the more competitive fields in recent memory.

We’ll have Week 3’s Yacht Rock Night recap up shortly too, so check back with Theme Park Scope for the latest, and follow us on social so you don’t miss it.

Were YOU surprised by Giada and Alan’s elimination, or did you see it coming after their score Tuesday night?
