Six Disneyland attractions are closed or closing throughout October…

…landing right in the middle of the resort’s busiest Halloween stretch of the year.

If you’ve got a Disneyland trip planned for the next few weeks, here’s exactly what won’t be running so you can plan around it instead of finding out the hard way.

Indiana Jones Adventure has been closed since September 8 with no reopening date announced yet, making it the longest-running closure on this list and one of the more disappointing ones, since it’s consistently one of the most in-demand rides on Disneyland’s Lightning Lane Multi Pass.

Mad Tea Party has been down since September 14, also without a confirmed return date. The Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition has actually been closed even longer, since July 6, with still no word on when or if it’s coming back.

Two more attractions have partial closures scattered throughout the month rather than one continuous stretch. Sailing Ship Columbia is closed October 1 through 2, October 5 through 9, and October 12 through 16, while Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes follows a similar broken schedule, closed October 1, October 4 through 8, and October 12 through 15. Both attractions sail the Rivers of America, so if you’re hoping to catch either one, checking the specific dates against your visit really matters here.

Rounding out the list, “it’s a small world” closes October 30 to begin its transformation into its holiday overlay, with an expected reopening around mid-November. That one’s an annual tradition at this point, so it’s more predictable than the others, even if it means missing the regular version if your trip falls right at the end of the month.

October is already one of the busier months at Disneyland thanks to Halloween Time, Oogie Boogie Bash, and fall break crowds from nearby states, so losing several attractions at once, including a genuine headliner like Indiana Jones Adventure, is going to be felt more than it would during a quieter stretch of the year.

If any of these closures affect your trip, it’s worth building a backup plan now. Disney California Adventure has leaned hard into Halloween this year with Cars Land’s Haul-O-Ween and Guardians of the Galaxy — Monsters After Dark, both of which are solid ways to fill the gap left by Indiana Jones or the Columbia.

Interestingly, this isn’t just a Disneyland story. Over at Walt Disney World, the Walt Disney World Railroad, another opening-day-era attraction, is also closed for nearly the entire month for its own refurbishment. It’s a coincidence rather than a connected story, but it’s a reminder that even the most beloved rides need real downtime sometimes, and October just happens to be when a few of them are taking it.
