Nobody expected Universal news to come out of a Simpsons panel at D23, and yet here we are — Treehouse of Horror might actually be headed to Universal Studios!

The reveal came during the Q&A portion of The Simpsons: Stories from Springfield panel, when an audience member asked the obvious question every fan’s been wondering for years: has Treehouse of Horror, the show’s beloved annual horror anthology episodes, ever been discussed for Halloween Horror Nights?
Current showrunner Matt Selman didn’t just confirm that talks have happened — he went a step further and said the process to actually bring Treehouse of Horror to Universal has already begun.
According to Selman, the rollout would likely start small, with themed food and beverage offerings first, before eventually expanding into some kind of full “experience” down the line. He was quick to note he wasn’t totally sure he was allowed to share this yet, so nothing here is officially confirmed, but “talks are happening” is still a pretty exciting phrase to hear out loud on a convention stage.

What we don’t know: whether this would land as a daytime fall experience or be baked specifically into Halloween Horror Nights, and whether it’s headed to Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Orlando Resort, or both. Selman didn’t get into any of that.
This news also lands at a pretty telling moment. Speculation about The Simpsons’ future at Universal has been ramping up lately, largely because the franchise is now under the Disney umbrella. A tease like this (even an unofficial one) feels like it’s answering a question a lot of fans have been quietly asking for a while: does Disney ownership actually open the door to more Simpsons content at Universal? Based on this panel, the answer might be yes.

Nothing’s locked in yet, but between the food-first rollout hint and an actual showrunner confirming conversations are underway, this is one to keep an eye on.
