Homer Simpson is officially heading back to Fortnite, but not in the way fans expected!

Disney and Epic Games have announced a major expansion of their growing partnership, and it’s one that could completely change how fans experience The Simpsons in Fortnite. Rather than simply adding another crossover skin or limited-time event, Disney is handing creators the keys to Springfield itself.
Later this year, Fortnite creators will gain access to official The Simpsons assets through Unreal Editor for Fortnite, opening the door to entirely new games inspired by one of television’s most iconic animated families.
During Unreal Fest 2026, Disney and Epic Games announced that The Simpsons will officially join Fortnite’s IP Partner Program later this year.

The addition means developers using Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) will receive an official toolkit filled with licensed Simpsons content, allowing them to build authentic experiences featuring the beloved animated franchise.
Instead of relying on fan-made recreations, creators will have access to official Disney-approved assets, including recognizable characters, locations, and visual elements straight from Springfield.
What Is Unreal Editor for Fortnite?
Unreal Editor for Fortnite, commonly known as UEFN, is Epic Games’ powerful game creation platform that allows developers to build custom experiences inside Fortnite.
Through the IP Partner Program, Epic has begun offering officially licensed toolkits from major entertainment franchises, giving creators access to authentic assets while still allowing them to design unique gameplay experiences.
The Simpsons now joins a growing list of Disney-owned properties available through the program.
Following the Success of Star Wars
This isn’t Disney’s first collaboration through Fortnite’s creator ecosystem.
Earlier this year, Epic launched its Star Wars toolkit for UEFN creators, and the response was massive.

According to Epic Games, nearly 8 million players jumped into community-created Star Wars experiences during the first 72 hours after launch.
That success helped pave the way for Disney to expand the partnership with another one of its biggest entertainment brands: The Simpsons.
What Will Creators Be Able to Build?
While Epic hasn’t revealed every detail of the toolkit, Disney confirmed creators will have access to official assets featuring:
- Homer Simpson
- Bart Simpson
- Marge Simpson
- Lisa Simpson
- Springfield-inspired locations
- Authentic visual elements from the series
Those assets can be used to create original Fortnite islands and gameplay experiences inside the Fortnite ecosystem.

Fans are already speculating that creators will attempt to recreate iconic Springfield locations, or even pay tribute to beloved games like The Simpsons: Hit & Run using the official tools.
This Is Bigger Than a Typical Fortnite Crossover
Unlike traditional Fortnite collaborations that introduce skins, cosmetics, or limited-time game modes, this announcement gives creators long-term access to an officially licensed Disney franchise.

That means new Simpsons-inspired experiences could continue appearing long after the toolkit launches, keeping the franchise active inside Fortnite through community-created content.
It’s another sign that Disney and Epic Games are continuing to deepen their partnership while giving fans new ways to interact with some of Disney’s biggest intellectual properties.
When Will the Toolkit Launch?
Disney and Epic Games have confirmed that The Simpsons toolkit will arrive later in 2026, but an exact release date has not yet been announced.
Additional details (including creator guidelines, available assets, and any content restrictions) are expected closer to launch.
Until then, Fortnite creators and Simpsons fans alike will be eagerly waiting to see what Springfield looks like inside Fortnite’s ever-expanding universe.
A New Era for Disney and Fortnite
Disney’s partnership with Epic Games continues to grow well beyond traditional in-game crossovers.
By giving creators official access to one of television’s most recognizable franchises, Disney is embracing community creativity in a way we’ve never seen before with The Simpsons.

Whether you’re a Fortnite player, a lifelong Simpsons fan, or simply curious to see what creators build next, this is one collaboration worth keeping an eye on.
