Testing is continuing at Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, but this time, it looks like more than just ride vehicles were taking center stage.

New activity spotted at Universal Studios Hollywood suggests the park may have been filming promotional footage or a future commercial for its highly anticipated new roller coaster.
Throughout the day, multiple coaster trains were seen cycling the track with riders onboard while camera crews captured footage from several different angles. One ride vehicle was outfitted with a professional camera rig mounted directly to the front of the car, allowing filmmakers to capture high-speed, on-ride footage as the coaster raced through the course.

Additional production crews were also positioned on elevated boom lifts overlooking portions of the attraction, while performers dressed in street-racing-inspired outfits posed in front of the attraction’s large Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift mural alongside a themed sports car.

The activity strongly suggests Universal was capturing a variety of promotional shots, including:
- On-ride rider reactions
- Dynamic coaster footage
- Lifestyle and promotional imagery
- Marketing material featuring performers and themed vehicles
While Universal has not officially confirmed that filming was taking place for a commercial or advertising campaign, the combination of mounted ride cameras, multiple camera operators, production equipment, staged performers, and repeated ride cycles certainly points in that direction.

Construction and testing have continued to make steady progress on Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, which will become Universal Studios Hollywood’s first high-speed outdoor roller coaster. Inspired by the blockbuster Fast & Furious franchise, the attraction will feature ride vehicles designed to resemble iconic street cars and will include a rotating ride system that allows guests to experience the sensation of drifting through high-speed turns.

As Universal moves closer to opening day, promotional filming like this is often one of the final visible milestones before a major attraction begins welcoming guests.
