Two new Avengers Campus attractions just got a whole lot more real, because Disney brought out the models, and they are NOT playing around!

Flight Lab

At D23, we got our first close-up look at models for Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab, the two new rides headed to Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure. Both attractions will sit right behind Avengers Headquarters, so this corner of the park is about to get very, very busy.

Let’s start with Infinity Defense, because the premise alone had me leaning in: this multiverse-jumping ride pits guests and the Super Heroes against King Thanos — a version of the villain who actually won. Not exactly a comforting thought, but a genuinely thrilling one. The ride will use the same 3D system as Peter Pan’s Never Land Adventure over at Tokyo DisneySea, so if you’ve experienced that one, you’ve got a decent preview of the tech here.

Then there’s Stark Flight Lab, which might be my personal most-anticipated of the two. Guests will sit in “gyro-kinetic pods” that travel along a track before attaching to a robotic arm, and each arm reportedly has its own personality, kind of like DUM-E from the Iron Man movies. A robot arm with attitude carting me through a ride? Say less. Robert Downey Jr. is also confirmed to return as Tony Stark for the attraction, so we’re getting the real deal, not just archival footage stitched together.

Model

Between the returning cast, the tech borrowed from an already-beloved ride system, and a villain premise that’s genuinely unsettling in the best way, Avengers Campus is shaping up to expand in a big way. And now that there are actual models to look at instead of just concept sketches, this all feels a lot closer than it did last week.

Which of the two new rides are you more excited for — Infinity Defense or Stark Flight Lab? Let me know!
