Universal isn’t wasting any time; the first expansion at Epic Universe is already taking shape!

Epic Universe may still feel brand new, but Universal Orlando Resort is already looking toward the future. Construction crews have officially reached a major milestone on what appears to be the park’s first expansion project, with vertical construction now underway just months after Epic Universe welcomed its first guests.
While Universal has yet to reveal exactly what’s being built, the latest construction activity is giving fans plenty to talk about, and it’s a clear sign that Epic Universe is already entering its next phase of growth.
According to recent construction updates, steel is now rising from the site of Epic Universe’s first expansion project, marking the beginning of vertical construction after months of site preparation and foundation work. The project is located between the park’s main entrance and Super Nintendo World, in an area that has long been designated for future development.

For theme park fans, “going vertical” is one of the most exciting milestones in any construction project. It’s the point where guests can finally begin seeing a structure emerge above ground, offering the first real glimpse that something substantial is taking shape.
What Is Universal Building?
That’s still the biggest question.
At this point, Universal Orlando Resort has not announced what the expansion will ultimately become. Public permits reference a large construction project, but they do not identify a specific attraction, restaurant, retail location, or entertainment offering.

Because of that, any discussion surrounding the project’s final purpose remains speculation.
What is confirmed is that Universal has previously acknowledged it is preparing “exciting additions” for Epic Universe in the future, making this the first visible sign that those long-term expansion plans are moving forward.
Epic Universe Was Built to Grow
One of the most exciting aspects of Epic Universe has always been its future potential.

When Universal designed the park, it intentionally left room for additional experiences, attractions, and guest offerings. Unlike many older parks that have limited space for expansion, Epic Universe was master-planned with future growth in mind, allowing Universal to continue investing in the destination for years to come.
Now, with construction officially moving upward, guests are seeing that vision begin to unfold.

Beginning expansion work less than a year after Epic Universe’s opening demonstrates Universal’s continued investment in its newest theme park and reinforces its long-term strategy of keeping the destination fresh with new experiences.
Whether the project ultimately becomes a new attraction, guest experience, dining location, or something entirely unexpected, it’s exciting to know that Epic Universe is already evolving.

For now, fans will simply have to keep watching the construction site — and, if history is any indication, every new permit, steel beam, and construction update will continue fueling anticipation until Universal is ready to make an official announcement.
One thing is certain: Epic Universe’s story is only just beginning.
