Another piece of The Lost Continent has quietly disappeared at Universal Orlando.

Signs around The Lost Continent

According to reports and photos shared online this week, Treasures of Poseidon has permanently closed inside The Lost Continent at Universal Islands of Adventure. The shop, located near the former Poseidon’s Fury attraction, now appears shuttered as Universal continues the phased closure of the land.

Treasures of Poseidon sat directly across from Mythos Restaurant and near the entrance to the now-closed Poseidon’s Fury attraction. The store sold nautical-themed merchandise, jewelry, handbags, apparel, and mythology-inspired souvenirs for years inside Islands of Adventure.

Inside Universal

While it may not have been one of Universal’s most famous gift shops, longtime Islands of Adventure fans definitely recognized it as one of the remaining original pieces of The Lost Continent.

The Lost Continent Is Undergoing Major Changes

The closure comes as Universal continues preparing The Lost Continent for a future replacement land. Earlier this month, Universal officially confirmed that venues and experiences within The Lost Continent would permanently close in phases to make way for a “new themed area.”

Construction walls and demolition work have already become increasingly visible throughout the land, particularly around:

  • Poseidon’s Fury
  • The Mystic Fountain area
  • Former Sinbad theater areas
  • Nearby pathways and courtyards

Universal has not officially announced what will replace The Lost Continent, though fan speculation online continues heavily pointing toward franchises like Pokémon or The Legend of Zelda.

Very Little of the Original Land Remains

The Lost Continent was one of the original opening-day lands when Islands of Adventure debuted in 1999. Over the years, however, the area has slowly shrunk as portions were absorbed into The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Recent years have brought even more closures, including:

  • The Eighth Voyage of Sinbad
  • Poseidon’s Fury
  • The Mystic Fountain

At this point, Mythos Restaurant, Fire Eater’s Grill, and a handful of smaller offerings are among the few remaining operational pieces of the land.

For longtime Universal fans, it’s starting to feel very much like the end of an era.
