Construction walls are now up inside one of Universal Orlando’s original lands, marking a visible shift from speculation to real, on-the-ground change. Here’s what’s been spotted—and what it could mean.
Construction walls have officially gone up around portions of the Lost Continent at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, signaling the next phase of development for the long-dormant area.
The newly installed walls are primarily located around sections of the land that have not been operational for several years, including areas tied to former attractions like Poseidon’s Fury and The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad. Both experiences have been closed since 2023 and 2018, respectively, leaving large portions of the land unused.
Importantly, the rest of the Lost Continent remains open to guests. Dining locations and walkways are still accessible, meaning this update does not significantly impact the overall guest experience—at least for now.
The addition of construction walls follows earlier permits filed by Universal Orlando for demolition and site preparation in the area. Those filings outlined plans to clear multiple structures and prepare the land for future development, though no official replacement has been announced.
More recently, fans have also pointed to notices of commencement circulating online—including those highlighted in a widely shared X post—as further evidence that work is actively moving forward. These documents typically indicate that contractors and construction activity are being formally initiated, adding another layer of confirmation beyond the visible walls.
Universal has previously stated that construction in the Lost Continent is part of broader “site planning to ensure the area is ready for any future developments.”
While details on what’s coming next remain unconfirmed, the placement of construction walls is often one of the clearest signs that a project is transitioning from planning into active work.
For longtime fans, this marks another step in the gradual evolution of the Lost Continent—a land that has already seen significant changes over the years, including portions being absorbed into The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
For now, guests can still walk through much of the area, but with construction now visibly underway, it’s clear that more changes are on the horizon.
