Okay, things are getting real at Universal Orlando—and if you’ve been waiting for a sign that this new coaster is moving fast… this is it.

Construction on Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift just took a big step forward, with visible progress now happening on one of the ride’s main structures.
New updates show that blockwork has officially begun on a key building for the upcoming attraction. In simple terms? We’re no longer just talking about groundwork and supports—this is the phase where actual buildings start taking shape.
This comes just weeks after crews were seen installing foundations, concrete footers, and staging track pieces nearby, signaling that construction is moving steadily into its next phase.

The project is rising quickly in the New York section of Universal Studios Florida, where the coaster is replacing the now-closed Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit.
If you’re not deep in construction lingo, blockwork is a big deal. It means vertical progress—walls, structures, and eventually the spaces guests will walk through are starting to become visible.

Basically, this is when a construction site starts looking like an actual attraction.
And considering how fast things have been progressing lately, it’s safe to say this project is moving at full speed.
A Coaster Built for Speed (Literally)
When it opens, Hollywood Drift is expected to be one of the most intense attractions Universal has ever built.
We’re talking speeds up to around 70+ mph, spinning ride vehicles designed to simulate drifting, and a massive 170-foot vertical spike unique to the Orlando version.

The coaster will bring the Fast & Furious franchise to life in a completely new way—ditching screens in favor of high-speed, real-world thrills.
When Can We Expect It?
The Florida version of Hollywood Drift is currently targeting a 2027 opening, meaning we’ll likely see track installation and major structural changes ramp up throughout the rest of 2026.
And if construction keeps moving at this pace? Expect a lot more visible progress very soon.

Between new buildings rising, track pieces already on site, and constant construction activity, this coaster is quickly becoming one of the most exciting projects at Universal Orlando right now.
