The front door to Monstropolis is finally starting to appear, and it may already be different from Disney’s concept art.

Construction continues to move quickly on Disney’s upcoming Monsters, Inc.-themed land, Monstropolis, and new aerial photos reveal one of the clearest looks yet at the future entrance area.
Thanks to several aerial images from bioreconstruct on X, while crews continue pouring concrete and installing structural elements, the latest construction update has uncovered an interesting detail: the entrance pathway appears to be taking a different shape than what Disney originally showed in concept art.
A Curved Entrance Is Taking Shape
New aerial photos from Bioreconstruct show wooden concrete forms outlining the future entrance to Monstropolis. Rather than creating a straight path into the land, the forms reveal a sweeping curve that bends through the entrance area. Crews were spotted working on the forms, installing rebar, and preparing the area for future concrete work.

From above, the curved design is unmistakable and appears to guide guests toward the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge side of the area rather than directly into the center of Monstropolis.
A Departure From Disney’s Concept Art
The new entrance layout differs from the concept art Disney has displayed on construction walls surrounding the project.
In Disney’s artwork, guests appeared to enter the land on a more direct path leading toward the central plaza area. The newly visible concrete forms instead create a noticeable arc through the entrance. While concept art often changes during development, the difference is significant enough to catch the attention of fans following construction progress.

Of course, concept art is meant to represent the overall vision of a project rather than serve as a precise blueprint, so changes during construction aren’t uncommon.
Entrance Columns Continue Rising
The update also shows progress on the new entrance columns.
Recent photos reveal rebar cages extending upward as crews prepare the structures for future concrete pours. Some columns remain fully exposed, while others have already been enclosed in form panels ahead of construction work.

Earlier concept art suggested the entrance columns would receive themed decorative elements inspired by the architecture of the Monsters, Inc. universe, replacing the former Muppets Courtyard entrance design.
Could the Curve Hint at Future Expansion?
One of the more interesting theories emerging from the construction update involves why the entrance appears to curve toward Galaxy’s Edge.
The pathway seems to naturally guide guests toward the nearby tunnel connecting Grand Avenue and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Some fans have speculated that the design could simply improve guest flow between the two lands. Others wonder if the altered layout could leave room for future development elsewhere along Grand Avenue.

At this point, Disney has not announced any additional projects for the area, making any connection purely speculative. Still, it’s the type of detail Disney fans love to analyze as construction continues.
Monstropolis Continues to Come Together
The entrance work is just the latest sign of progress throughout Monstropolis.
In recent weeks, Disney has begun installing steel framing for Harryhausen’s Restaurant, continued work on the future Door Vault roller coaster, and shared new details about the land’s H.U.M.A.N. Day backstory that will welcome guests into the monster world.
While Disney has not announced an opening date for Monstropolis, construction across the former Grand Avenue and Muppets Courtyard area continues to accelerate.

And now, for the first time, guests can begin to see exactly how they’ll enter the city of Monstropolis when the land eventually opens.
