Construction continues ramping up on Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift at Universal Studios Florida, and new aerial photos are giving fans a closer look at just how massive this coaster project is becoming behind the scenes.

Universal

Fresh images shared by Bioreconstruct reveal large staging areas filled with coaster track sections, support columns, and construction equipment as crews continue preparing additional installation work for Universal’s upcoming high-speed drift coaster.

The new aerial photos show dozens of blue coaster support columns and multiple sections of gray coaster track currently staged in backstage construction areas near the attraction site.

Several curved and straight track pieces can be seen organized throughout the lot alongside support components waiting for installation.

The photos also reveal cranes and heavy construction equipment actively positioned around the staging area as crews continue assembling pieces for future installation phases.

At this point, Hollywood Drift’s construction footprint has become one of the largest active coaster projects anywhere in Orlando.

One particularly interesting detail visible in the aerial photos involves large white foam blocks placed over sections of already-installed coaster track.

According to Bioreconstruct, the foam blocks are being used to protect completed track sections in areas where construction work is happening overhead — including sections where crews may still be adding crossover track elements above existing pieces.

The protective foam likely helps prevent damage to the installed track while heavy steel components and construction equipment continue moving nearby during installation work.

It’s a small behind-the-scenes detail, but honestly, it really highlights how carefully choreographed coaster construction has to be once multiple track levels begin intersecting.

Workers

Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is already dramatically changing the skyline around the New York section of Universal Studios Florida.

Once complete, the attraction will feature rotating ride vehicles, drifting coaster technology, high-speed launches, multiple inversions, and a thrilling track that will weave throughout the park.

Universal has previously confirmed that the coaster vehicles themselves will rotate independently to simulate the feeling of drifting cars during the ride experience.

The attraction is also expected to feature vehicles themed to iconic Fast & Furious franchise cars driven by characters including Dom Toretto, Brian O’Conner, and Han.

The presence of crossover installation work suggests the coaster may now be entering one of its more complex construction phases.

Projects involving multi-level coaster layouts often require protective measures once completed track sections begin sitting beneath active construction zones.

And with Hollywood Drift weaving through existing infrastructure inside Universal Studios Florida, construction coordination appears especially intricate compared to traditional coaster builds constructed on open land.

Universal

Universal has not yet announced an official opening date for Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, but construction continues moving quickly throughout the project site.

The attraction is expected to become one of the headlining thrill additions at Universal Studios Florida once completed.

And based on the amount of staged steel currently waiting backstage, it definitely looks like a LOT more track installation is coming soon.
