One of the biggest visual icons on Sunset Boulevard just officially entered its Muppets era.

For the first time since Disney began transforming Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster into Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, the attraction’s massive exterior guitar has now been fully illuminated at night — giving guests their clearest look yet at the updated entrance package ahead of the coaster’s reopening later this month.
The oversized guitar outside the attraction courtyard has been slowly receiving new themed elements over the past several weeks as Disney continues work on the Muppets retheme at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Now, the guitar’s updated lighting package has officially debuted after dark, showcasing the colorful new Muppets-inspired graphics and refreshed neon details installed during the transformation.

The guitar previously featured Aerosmith-themed styling for decades as part of the original Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith attraction. Earlier this year, Disney removed the classic branding and began replacing it with artwork tied to Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.
The refreshed guitar now features bright colors, psychedelic-inspired patterns, and updated visual elements themed to the Electric Mayhem band.

Disney has also added new Muppets branding throughout the attraction entrance area, helping fully connect the exterior courtyard to the attraction’s new storyline centered around the Electric Mayhem preparing for a major Hollywood concert.
At night, the illuminated guitar gives the entire courtyard a noticeably different vibe compared to the attraction’s previous Aerosmith-era look.

The lit-up guitar is just the latest visible update at the attraction as Disney continues rapidly finishing the retheme ahead of previews and opening day.
Recent changes around the attraction have included:
- New Electric Mayhem posters throughout the queue
- Updated entrance signage
- New themed murals
- Additional concert advertisements
- “Rock Around the Shop” gift shop updates
- Expanded Muppets-themed décor

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets officially opens on May 26, 2026, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Before then, Disney will host Annual Passholder previews from:
- May 21
- May 22
- May 23
Disney Vacation Club members will also receive special preview opportunities on May 24.

The attraction replaces Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, which operated at Disney’s Hollywood Studios from 1999 until its closure earlier this year.
For months, much of the work happening around the attraction has involved construction walls, covered signage, and gradual cosmetic changes.

But seeing the giant guitar fully illuminated for the first time makes the transformation suddenly feel VERY real.
The updated lighting package instantly changes the energy of Sunset Boulevard at night, and it’s probably one of the clearest signs yet that Disney is entering the final stages of preparing the coaster for guests.
