Every once in a while, a Disney restaurant announcement lands, and I feel it in my chest a little. This is one of those times.

The Rose & Crown Dining Room in the United Kingdom pavilion at EPCOT is set to close for a refurbishment, and since this is one of my favorite spots to eat with a view in World Showcase, I have thoughts.

UPDATE — October 13, 2026: The plan for the Rose & Crown has changed, and it is a bigger change than I expected. Disney’s Walt Disney World website now lists both the Rose & Crown Dining Room and the Rose & Crown Pub as closing beginning January 11, 2027, with both expected to reopen later in 2027. That is about five weeks earlier than the Dining Room’s original February 15 closing date, and the Pub, which was originally expected to stay open, is now part of the closure.

The good news is that the Yorkshire County Fish Shop is reported to be staying open during the closure, serving fish and chips and Irish beer, so there is still a spot in the UK pavilion for a British bite. As for the work itself, the reporting I read says both venues are expected to get regular maintenance, with major changes not expected. That is not an official promise about the final look, so I will keep my fingers crossed and my expectations calm.

Anything I wrote below about a February 15 closing, the Pub staying open, and a return in “early spring” is now out of date, so read the rest of this post as the original announcement and this update as the current picture.

The table-service Dining Room is scheduled to close on Monday, Feb. 15, 2027, and Disney’s listing says it will remain closed until early spring. Disney hasn’t announced a reopening date, and it hasn’t shared any details about what the refurbishment will actually involve. That’s the big gap right now. A refurbishment can mean anything from fresh paint and new carpet to a much bigger refresh, and nobody outside Disney can say which one this is yet.

The good news, as originally reported, is that the Rose & Crown Pub and the Yorkshire County Fish Shop were expected to stay open during the closure. So if your idea of a perfect afternoon in the UK pavilion is a plate of fish and chips and something cold to drink, you’re probably fine. (I say probably because these listings can change, and I’ll explain in a second.)

Now, a quick and important heads up. Since the first announcement, I’ve seen reports that the details on Disney’s refurbishment calendar have shifted, with the listing changing and, at one point, apparently disappearing. I can’t tell you for certain where things stand today, and I’m not going to pretend I can. If the Rose & Crown is part of your trip plans, please check Disney’s official website or the My Disney Experience app before you book, cancel, or rearrange anything. I’ll update you here as soon as I see something solid.

Let me give you some context, because this isn’t the first time. The Dining Room has closed for a refurbishment before. In 2021, the closure lasted a little over a month, with reservations reopening on March 21. I can’t promise this one will follow the same timeline, but it’s a useful reference point for anyone wondering how long they might be without it.

And why do so many of us care so much about this one restaurant? Part of it is the setting. The Dining Room sits right on the World Showcase Lagoon, and as far as I know, it’s one of the spots people love for a sit-down meal with a view of the nighttime show. With Luminous: The Symphony of Us lighting up the lagoon every evening, I’d imagine that makes tables here especially popular. Part of it, too, is the menu, which leans into classic British comfort food, and part of it is the atmosphere, which feels cozy in a way a lot of theme park restaurants simply don’t.

If you’ve got a reservation sometime between mid-February and early spring, it’s worth keeping an eye on it. Disney will typically contact guests if a reservation is affected, but it never hurts to double-check yourself, especially during a busy stretch of the year.

I’m going to be honest, I have mixed feelings. Part of me is thrilled, because a refurbishment usually means somebody cares enough about a place to keep it looking its best, and the Rose & Crown has been around a long time. A fresh coat of everything can do wonders. The other part of me worries, because I get nervous whenever a beloved space gets touched. I don’t want the cozy pub feel to disappear in favor of something shiny and generic. The charm is the whole point.

So my hope is simple. Keep the warmth, keep the view, keep the menu favorites, and give the space a little love. If they do that, I’ll be first in line when the doors reopen. And if they change the whole thing, well, I’ll still show up and tell you honestly what I think. That’s kind of my specialty.

That’s what I’ve got for now. Have you got a favorite memory at the Rose & Crown, or a dish you’d hate to see leave the menu? Tell me about it, and keep checking back with Theme Park Scope, because I’ll share every update on this one as soon as there’s something worth sharing.
