I would like to confess that I have a very specific relationship with the little circle at the top of the My Disney Experience app, and by relationship I mean I stare at it, I judge it, and I change it far more often than any reasonable adult should.

Disney

So when I noticed the character picker looked different this Halloween season, I did what any responsible person would do: I opened the app, started a screen recording, and scrolled through every row like I was doing important research. I was.

If you’re looking to change your Disney profile character icon, it’s pretty simple. On the My Disney Experience home screen, tap the little circle with your current character in it, right next to your name at the top. A screen titled Select a Character loads; tap the one you want, then tap Save. The button turns from pale blue to dark blue, and you tap it. A green check mark and the words Character Saved pop up, and you are done. My wife’s character was Belle, and she was perfectly happy with her until about thirty seconds ago.

This is the row that stopped my thumb mid-scroll. The character picker is now organized into labeled categories, and one of them is called Paranormal Pals, which is the greatest category name I have ever seen in an app. Here is who is in it: three of the Hitchhiking Ghosts from the Haunted Mansion, rendered in that spooky teal glow, plus Oogie Boogie, Jack Skellington, Sally, Zero, and Sparky from Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie. Fair warning, I could not tell you with confidence which of the three ghost faces is Phineas, Ezra, or Gus, since the icons are small and I was squinting at a phone, so if you know, tell me in the comments.

The timing makes total sense. Jack Skellington and Sally are some of the most popular characters at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, Oogie Boogie is the face of Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventure, and the Hitchhiking Ghosts are always hanging around the Haunted Mansion this time of year. It feels like Disney built a whole Halloween wardrobe for your profile picture.

I will be honest about what I do not know. I looked for an official Disney announcement listing exactly which icons were added in this latest update and could not find one, so I am telling you what is in the picker today rather than claiming every single icon is brand new.

The other categories are Disney Classics, Disney Princesses, Disney Villains, Mickey and Friends, Modern Favorites, Pixar, and Star Wars. Each row scrolls sideways, so there may be more hiding past what my recording showed, but here is what I saw.

Disney Classics included a black-and-white Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Launchpad McQuack, Genie, Aladdin, Jiminy Cricket, the Cheshire Cat, Alice, Kermit the Frog, and Winnie the Pooh.

Disney Princesses included Cinderella, Snow White, Ariel, Mulan, Belle, Elsa, Moana, and Jasmine.

Disney Villains included Scar, Ursula, Jafar, Maleficent, Hades, Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, Gaston, Dr. Facilier, the Evil Queen, and the Queen of Hearts.

Mickey and Friends included Mickey in a captain’s hat, Sorcerer Mickey, classic Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, Chip, and Dale.

Modern Favorites included Orange Bird, Hei Hei, Pua, Pascal, a young Simba and a grown-up Simba, Baymax, Kristoff, Figment, Stitch, and Olaf.

Pixar included Mike Wazowski, Sulley, Joy, Dory, Mater, Woody, Jessie, Buzz Lightyear, Rex, Hamm, one of the Little Green Aliens, Lightning McQueen, Cruz Ramirez, and Nemo.

Star Wars included R2-D2, C-3PO, Yoda, Darth Vader, a Stormtrooper, Grogu, the Mandalorian, an Ewok, and Chewbacca.

This list did not appear overnight. The picker has been growing in batches, and it helps that we can look back at a couple of them. In May 2025, Disney added 17 icons at once, including Cruella de Vil, Dr. Facilier, the Evil Queen, Figment, Gaston, Hades, Hercules, Jafar, Lady Tremaine, Maleficent, the Queen of Hearts, Red Panda Meilin, Scar, Stitch, Tigger, Ursula, and Winnie the Pooh. A few of those lined up with new offerings at the time, such as the Disney Villains show at Hollywood Studios, the live-action Lilo and Stitch movie, and the Hercules show on the Disney Destiny. Then in August 2025, Meg from Hercules, Mother Gothel from Tangled, and Yzma from The Emperor’s New Groove joined the lineup.

One more useful detail: these icons are tied to your MyDisney login, the unified login used across Disney’s park websites. Changing your character in the app should carry over to most Disney-branded park websites, though Disney+ has its own separate icon library, so the two will not always match.

My screen recording ends with us tapping the first Hitchhiking Ghost, hitting Save, and watching the Character Saved check mark appear. Belle had a good run. But it is October, and I am not about to walk around Magic Kingdom with a profile picture that is not at least a little bit haunted.

Which icon did you pick, and what is the pelican’s name? Tell us in the comments, and check back with Theme Park Scope for more app updates and Halloween season news.
