Deciding which hotel to stay at in Disney World may be one of the hardest decisions you make about your whole vacation, yes, even harder than deciding if waking up at 6 AM to rope drop Magic Kingdom is worth it on the fourth day of your trip.

To make that decision even harder, Disney has been announcing new closures and refurbishments across the resort nearly every single week lately, to the point where it’s genuinely hard to keep track of what’s happening where. So we went through the entire list of Disney World hotels and pulled together every closure confirmed for 2027 so far, big and small, so you know exactly what you’re booking into before you commit to a resort.
Let’s start with the transportation closure that touches the most hotels at once. The Disney Skyliner is closing for routine refurbishment from January 24 through January 30, 2027. This affects every Skyliner-connected hotel, so if you’re booking a stay at any of those resorts for that window, keep it in mind while you’re planning your park days.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort has a longer project on its hands. Through late 2027, Bay Lake Tower and the Main Tower atrium will be undergoing construction, and the exterior maintenance on the Main Tower may impact views from various spots around the resort and occasionally require alternate paths of travel.

Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort has guest rooms undergoing planned refurbishment through January 2027. Worth noting, no closures or refurbishments have been announced for the other two All-Star resorts, All-Star Sports or All-Star Music, so if you’re set on staying in that value tier and want to avoid construction entirely, those two are currently your safer bets.

At Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, guest rooms at Jambo House are undergoing refurbishment through January 2027. Kidani Village is also going through its own refurbishment right now, but that work is expected to wrap up by the end of 2026, ahead of Jambo House’s own completion date.

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort has a refurbishment on the calendar running from mid-June 2027 through October 2028, covering the resort’s guest rooms.

Disney’s Beach Club Resort is currently undergoing visible exterior maintenance that will continue through late 2027. As with the Contemporary’s project, this construction can affect views from different parts of the resort and may require alternate walking paths at times.

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Disney’s BoardWalk Villas have refurbishment work happening in select areas from now through 2027. On top of that, the Luna Park Pool, the Luna Park Crazy Play Area, and Leaping Horse Libations will close for routine maintenance from January 11 through April 2027. The good news if you’re booking a stay during that window: the Villas and Inn Leisure Pools will remain open the entire time, so you won’t be totally without a pool option.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort has a lengthy Convention Center refurbishment running from August 10, 2026, through late September 2027, which also extends to the El Centro Corridor and the surrounding areas tied to that same project.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is continuing renovations in select areas, including the covered entrance, through early 2027. This is a continuation of refurbishment work that’s already been ongoing at the resort for a large chunk of 2026.

Over at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter, Scat Cat’s Club – Lounge is closing starting October 6 and is expected to reopen in January 2027. The Scat Cat’s Club Café closes that same day but is on a slightly faster timeline, expected back open in December 2026.

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside has the longest-running project on this entire list. Guest rooms have been under refurbishment in phases since early May 2025, and that work is expected to continue through August 2027. It’s been going on for a long time at this point, but hopefully that finish line is finally in sight.

Now for the genuinely exciting addition to this list: Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge, a brand-new hotel opening in Disney World in 2027. This one’s being built on the former site of Disney’s River Country water park, near Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, and Disney describes it as being “inspired by the majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists.” The new Disney Vacation Club resort will have more than 900 rooms and is set to open on July 1, 2027. Disney has already released plenty of concept art showing off the rooms, some of the planned restaurants, and the overall design direction for the hotel. If you’re interested in staying there, mark your calendar: booking for Lakeshore Lodge opens October 6, so be ready to move fast once that window opens.

Between all the ongoing refurbishments and one brand-new hotel entering the lineup, 2027 is shaping up to be a genuinely transformative year for Disney World’s resort offerings. If you’re still deciding where to book, it’s worth weighing these closures against what you actually care about most in a resort, whether that’s a specific pool, a quiet view, or just avoiding scaffolding in your vacation photos altogether.
We’ll keep updating this list as Disney confirms new dates or adjusts existing ones, so check back with Theme Park Scope before you finalize your 2027 resort booking.
