Disney World is temporarily closing two popular spots at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter this fall, but don’t panic: those famous Mickey-shaped beignets aren’t going anywhere.
Both Scat Cat’s Club Café and Scat Cat’s Club — Lounge will close for refurbishment beginning October 6, 2026, kicking off a project that will stretch into the new year. And while the two locations close on the same day, they won’t reopen together.
Disney currently expects Scat Cat’s Club Café to reopen sometime in December 2026, while Scat Cat’s Club — Lounge isn’t expected to return until January 2027. Exact reopening dates haven’t been announced.
Scat Cat’s Club Café is home to the resort’s beloved Mickey-shaped beignets, and thankfully Disney already has a temporary plan in place. Beginning October 6, Mickey-shaped beignets and coffee will temporarily move to Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory, the resort’s main quick-service restaurant.
That means you won’t need to leave French Quarter (or even go particularly far) to get them while the café is under refurbishment. The temporary location is especially useful because Sassagoula Floatworks already serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, making it a familiar stop for guests staying at the resort.
Seasonal beignets aren’t necessarily disappearing, either. The Ghoulish Delight, Disney’s Halloween-season beignet offering, is expected to remain available through November 1 during the closure.
Once Scat Cat’s Club Café reopens in December, Disney plans to move the beignets and coffee back to their regular location.
The lounge side of Scat Cat’s Club requires a little more planning. Scat Cat’s Club — Lounge normally offers Southern-inspired cocktails, beer, wine, and live New Orleans-style jazz, making it one of the resort’s best spots for an evening drink. Because the lounge isn’t expected to reopen until January 2027, it will remain unavailable throughout the busy Christmas and New Year’s holiday period. Disney will provide a temporary alternative.
A temporary bar near Scat Cat’s Club Café will operate from 5 PM until 11 PM each night while the lounge is closed. Disney hasn’t announced the full temporary drink menu yet.
There’s also an important unanswered question for fans of Scat Cat’s Club: Disney has not said what will happen to the lounge’s live entertainment during the refurbishment. The temporary bar ensures guests can still grab a drink, but that’s not necessarily the same experience as sitting inside Scat Cat’s Club and listening to live jazz. Until Disney provides additional information, we wouldn’t assume that entertainment will relocate with the bar.
While Disney has confirmed that both spaces are closing for refurbishment, they haven’t revealed concept art or details about what will actually change inside the café or lounge. That’s worth noting because this isn’t an especially short closure. Scat Cat’s Club Café will be unavailable for roughly two months if it returns sometime in December, while the lounge will be closed for approximately three months or longer depending on its eventual January reopening date.
For comparison, Scat Cat’s Club underwent another refurbishment in fall 2024 that lasted only a few weeks. During that project, Disney similarly moved its beignet operation into Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory.
The significantly longer 2026 refurbishment could result in more substantial changes, but Disney hasn’t confirmed the scope of the work, so we’ll have to wait before drawing conclusions about what the refreshed spaces will look like.
If you’re staying at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort– French Quarter between October 6 and December, the most important thing to remember is simple: you can still get the beignets. You’ll just need to head to Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory instead of Scat Cat’s Club Café.
If your trip falls between October and January and Scat Cat’s Club — Lounge is part of your plans, the impact is a little greater. The temporary 5 PM–11 PM bar provides an alternative for drinks, but Disney hasn’t announced a replacement for the lounge atmosphere or its live jazz.
Other dining options at French Quarter remain available, including Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory and Mardi Grogs at the pool. Guests can also walk along the Sassagoula River to neighboring Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside, or use water transportation to reach the extensive dining lineup at Disney Springs. The good news is that this is a temporary closure, not another permanent Disney World dining loss.
