We genuinely did not have “Fortnite crosses over with Halloween Horror Nights” on our 2026 bingo card, but here we are!

And honestly, we’re kind of obsessed!
Fortnitemares is the third scarezone confirmed for Halloween Horror Nights 35, and it’s a historic first for the event: this marks the very first time Fortnite has ever been featured at HHN. Here’s everything we know about this genre-bending new zone so far.

Fortnitemares is located in the Central Park area of Universal Studios Florida. It was announced on July 22, 2026, making it the third scarezone confirmed for the Orlando lineup, joining Infernal Carnival of Nightmares and Sideshow of Decay.

This one isn’t Orlando-exclusive, either — it’s a shared scarezone, meaning it’s also debuting at Universal Studios Hollywood. Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights 35 runs select nights from August 28 through November 1, marking 48 event nights total (the earliest start in the event’s 35-year history), while Hollywood’s version runs select nights from September 3 through November 1, totaling 42 event nights.
The Official Premise
Guests entering Fortnitemares step into Freaky Fields, described as a Halloween-inspired living battleground that’s been overtaken by a mysterious, threatening force. Throughout the ever-evolving environment, guests will encounter the iconic Battle Bus, familiar Fortnitemares characters pulled straight from the game, and a handful of brand-new characters created exclusively for Halloween Horror Nights, all while trying to navigate (and escape) the haunted battlefield.
What Is Fortnitemares, Anyway?
For anyone who isn’t knee-deep in Fortnite lore, Fortnitemares is the name of Fortnite’s own annual in-game Halloween event. Each year, the wildly popular battle royale game transforms itself with horror-themed characters, monsters, haunted locations, and limited-time seasonal content.

Freaky Fields specifically isn’t a brand-new concept invented for HHN — it’s a location that was originally featured in the in-game Fortnitemares event back in 2024, now getting a real-world, walk-through recreation for Halloween Horror Nights guests.
A Genuinely Historic Crossover
Universal is billing this as the first time ever that Fortnite (one of the biggest video game franchises on the planet) has been featured at Halloween Horror Nights. It’s a notable departure from HHN’s usual lineup of licensed horror films, TV shows, and original in-house characters, and it’s already sparked plenty of conversation among longtime fans.
Some are thrilled to see one of gaming’s biggest properties get the HHN treatment, while others have questioned whether Fortnite’s colorful, cartoon-inspired art style fits alongside the rest of the event’s horror lineup. Supporters have pushed back on that criticism by pointing out that Fortnitemares, as an in-game event, already leans into horror imagery on its own terms.
