Forget building a droid — your next companion from Batuu might be an Ewok.
Disney is expanding the interactive experiences available inside Droid Depot at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge with an entirely new collection of companions, and the first one might be difficult for Star Wars fans to resist.
Meet the Batuu Adventure Buddies, a new collection of interactive Star Wars characters featuring expressive eyes, motorized movements, sounds, customizable accessories, and even the ability to interact with other companions and droids.
And Disney is kicking things off with an Ewok.
The first Batuu Adventure Buddy will be an interactive Ewok, debuting at Droid Depot in Disneyland Park on August 13, 2026.
The new companion features LCD eyes and motorized facial expressions, allowing the Ewok to react and display different emotions.
It also makes a variety of sounds, including giggles, laughs, and plenty of Ewokese chatter.
But this isn’t just a plush Ewok that makes noise when you press a button.
Guests can interact with their companion in different ways to trigger unique responses. A single tap on the Ewok’s head or two taps on its belly can produce random reactions, while three quick taps on the head can activate special animations.
One of those is the Endor Dance Party, which combines rhythmic eye animations with Ewokese chanting and drumming. If other Ewoks are nearby, they may even join the celebration.
There’s also a Forest Call Chain that allows nearby Batuu Adventure Buddies to respond to one another in their own languages.
Your Ewok Can Interact With Droid Depot Droids
Here’s where things get even more interesting.
Disney says Batuu Adventure Buddies are designed to interact with other droids sold at Droid Depot.
That means guests who already own—or build—a compatible Droid Depot companion can potentially see their new Ewok react to it, adding another interactive layer to the experience.
It’s a natural extension of what has made Droid Depot so popular since Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened: instead of simply purchasing a Star Wars souvenir, guests get a companion designed to feel like part of their adventure around Batuu.
You Can Customize Your Ewok
Like Droid Depot’s build-your-own droids, Batuu Adventure Buddies will also have customization options.
Disney has revealed three optional gear sets inspired by different locations and characters from the Star Wars universe.

And these aren’t purely cosmetic accessories.
Food, toys, and tools included with the gear packs can connect to the companion’s left hand and trigger unique animations, sounds, and reactions.
The optional gear packs will be available for an additional charge.
There’s Even an Activation Experience
Purchasing a Batuu Adventure Buddy will be more of an experience than simply picking one up from a shelf.
Guests will visit a dedicated area inside Droid Depot, where a Cast Member will help them choose their companion and any accessories they’d like to add.
Once everything has been selected, guests will participate in a special activation moment that brings their new Adventure Buddy to life for the first time.
After that, they’re free to head out into Black Spire Outpost with their new companion.
More Batuu Adventure Buddies Are Coming
The Ewok is only the beginning.
Disney says it will be the first of three Batuu Adventure Buddies, with two additional interactive characters planned for the collection.
Disney hasn’t revealed the identities of those next two companions yet.
The rollout will begin at Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on August 13, with the additional characters arriving there at a later date.
For Walt Disney World fans, there’s good news, too: Disney says the full Batuu Adventure Buddies collection will eventually debut at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
An exact Walt Disney World release date has not yet been announced, so we’ll have to wait a little longer before guests on the East Coast can bring one home.
Disney has also not yet announced pricing for the Ewok, the future Batuu Adventure Buddies, or their optional accessory packs.
For now, though, an interactive Ewok that laughs, speaks Ewokese, dances, reacts to accessories, communicates with other Adventure Buddies, and interacts with Droid Depot droids sounds like a pretty adorable way to explore Batuu.
