Oriental Land Co., Ltd., the operator of Tokyo Disney Resort, reported record first-half results for the fiscal year ending March 2027, driven by Tokyo DisneySea’s 25th anniversary, stronger park attendance and increased guest spending. The company raised its full-year outlook and shared updates on new attractions and its planned Japan-based Disney cruise business.

Record First-Half Revenue and Profit

For the six months ended September 2026, consolidated net sales rose 10.3% year over year to ¥348.7 billion, while operating profit increased 15.0% to ¥78.4 billion. Operating cash flow reached a record ¥94.4 billion.

  • Theme park attendance: 13.10 million guests, up 6.9%.
  • Average spending per guest: Â¥18,940, up 4.1%.
  • Theme park revenue: Â¥281.3 billion, up 11.7%.
  • Theme park operating profit: Â¥60.7 billion, up 22.0%.

Anniversary merchandise and special food and beverage offerings were major contributors. Merchandise sales per guest grew 10.8%, while food and beverage spending per guest increased 5.8%. Revenue from attractions and entertainment per guest was nearly unchanged.

Oriental Land Raises Full-Year Forecast

Following the strong first half, Oriental Land increased its forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027:

  • Net sales: Â¥763.3 billion (+8.3% year over year).
  • Operating profit: Â¥185.4 billion (+10.1%).
  • Ordinary profit: Â¥195.7 billion (+15.1%).
  • Net profit attributable to owners of the parent: Â¥133.5 billion (+9.6%).
  • Annual theme park attendance: 28.5 million guests (+3.5%).
  • Average spending per guest: Â¥19,429 (+5.6%).

The company expects Tokyo DisneySea’s 25th anniversary celebration and related merchandise and dining to continue supporting demand. It also increased its projected annual dividend to ¥18 per share, up from its initial ¥16 forecast.

Upcoming Attractions and Entertainment

Oriental Land highlighted several additions and limited-time experiences:

  • Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue: The new Wreck-It Ralph-themed attraction at Tokyo Disneyland is scheduled to open April 15, 2027. The company lists approximately Â¥29.5 billion in investment.
  • Bring the Rhythm!: A new Tokyo DisneySea entertainment offering planned for fall 2027, with approximately Â¥10 billion in investment.
  • Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Crystal Skull: Scheduled to reopen November 30, 2026.
  • Seasonal entertainment: Continued anniversary programming, including The D-Groovationz4 Live: Happy! Funky! Groovy! Tour.

Disney Imagination: Japan Cruise Plans and Prices

Oriental Land also outlined its cruise strategy for Disney Imagination, the first Disney cruise ship planned to operate from Japan. The company says preparations remain on track for service beginning in spring 2029, during fiscal 2028 (the fiscal year ending March 2029).

  • Home port: Tokyo International Cruise Terminal.
  • Itinerary length: Approximately two to four nights.
  • Expected fare range: Approximately Â¥100,000–¥300,000 per person, per cruise, with higher prices for more expensive stateroom categories.
  • Target market: Families, younger travelers and international visitors to Japan.
  • Passenger capacity: Approximately 4,000.
  • Staterooms: Approximately 1,250.
  • Planned investment: Approximately Â¥290 billion.

Annual Revenue Target: About ¥100 Billion

Once operations are established and running steadily, Oriental Land aims for approximately ¥100 billion in annual cruise revenue and around 400,000 passengers per year. The company expects the cruise business to become profitable in fiscal 2029 (the fiscal year ending March 2030), its first full fiscal year of operations, and targets an operating profit margin in the high-20% range once the business stabilizes.

Annual depreciation is expected to be roughly ¥20 billion. To manage foreign-exchange exposure, the company plans to hedge about half of the relevant amounts.

A Second Disney Cruise Ship Is Under Consideration

Oriental Land explicitly stated in its investor presentation that it is considering a second cruise ship after successfully establishing operations with the first. This is an expansion possibility, not a confirmed order, ship announcement or sailing schedule.

The company identified several reasons for entering the cruise business: a new revenue stream, a potentially high-margin business model, expansion without the land constraints faced at Maihama, diversification beyond the resort area, reduced sensitivity to weather and opportunities to recruit international employees.

Investment Strategy and Outlook

Oriental Land forecasts approximately ¥222.3 billion in capital investment for the fiscal year ending March 2027, compared with approximately ¥86.2 billion in the previous fiscal year, reflecting its growing commitment to cruise operations and new resort experiences.

The results underscore the importance of anniversary celebrations, merchandise and food offerings to Tokyo Disney Resort’s performance. Meanwhile, new attractions and Japan-based Disney cruises could broaden the company’s business beyond the traditional theme park visit.
