It really is becoming the LOST Continent now.

Universal Orlando Resort is moving full steam ahead with the demolition of Poseidon’s Fury, and another pair of massive, instantly recognizable pieces of the former attraction has officially disappeared. Construction activity has intensified around the Poseidon’s Fury courtyard at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, leaving even less of the once-imposing temple entrance standing.

And judging by the equipment, noise, missing statues, and rapidly changing landscape behind the construction walls, Universal is not wasting any time clearing this original Islands of Adventure area.

Both of the enormous Poseidon feet that once towered over the attraction’s exterior courtyard now appear to have been demolished.

During a recent visit to Universal’s Islands of Adventure, at least three construction vehicles could reportedly be seen operating behind the walls surrounding the former attraction. The area was also extremely noisy, suggesting active demolition work was taking place throughout the courtyard.

One of Poseidon’s feet had already disappeared in recent aerial photographs of the construction site. The second foot is now no longer visible either, indicating that both giant statue elements have been torn down.

The enormous feet were among the most distinctive elements of Poseidon’s Fury entrance. Positioned on either side of the courtyard, they made it appear as though a gigantic stone figure of the Greek god was emerging from (or buried beneath) the ancient temple.

Now, both are officially gone.

Poseidon’s Giant Trident Was Also Demolished

The removal of the giant feet follows the demolition of Poseidon’s oversized trident, another major visual centerpiece of the former attraction’s entrance.

For years, the enormous trident rose above the courtyard and helped make Poseidon’s Fury facade one of the most visually recognizable structures inside Universal’s Islands of Adventure. Its removal was one of the clearest signs that Universal’s work had moved beyond minor modifications and into full-scale demolition.

With the trident and both giant feet now destroyed, nearly all of the massive statue pieces surrounding the entrance have been removed.

The Temple Facade Is Still Mostly Standing

Although the giant decorative pieces have disappeared, Poseidon’s Fury temple facade remains mostly intact — for now.

However, the structure is already beginning to lose some of its smaller themed details. One of the sea-creature braziers previously positioned near the temple entrance has also been removed.

These changes suggest crews are stripping away the exterior courtyard and its decorative elements piece by piece before potentially moving deeper into the former attraction’s show building.

With the largest statue components now gone, the next phase of work is expected to include flattening the exterior queue walls and clearing the growing piles of rubble from the demolition site.

Demolition Has Reached the Poseidon’s Fury Show Building

The latest construction activity is especially significant because demolition has now begun around the Poseidon’s Fury show building itself.

Construction walls first expanded directly in front of the former attraction in April 2026. Before that expansion, the primary demolition footprint had been concentrated around the former Eighth Voyage of Sindbad theater.

The walls around Poseidon’s Fury effectively blocked guest access to the courtyard and signaled that work was preparing to move into another major section of The Lost Continent.

Now that excavators are operating in the area and the courtyard’s enormous statue pieces have been destroyed, that next phase is clearly underway.

The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad Theater Is Already Gone

Poseidon’s Fury is not the first major Lost Continent attraction to disappear during this project.

The theater that once housed The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad stunt show has also been demolished. The attraction permanently closed in 2018 after entertaining Islands of Adventure guests for nearly two decades.

The large outdoor theater remained unused for years following the show’s closure. It eventually became one of the first major structures targeted as Universal began clearing The Lost Continent for future development.

The demolition of both the Sindbad theater and portions of Poseidon’s Fury represents an enormous transformation for one of Islands of Adventure’s original themed lands.

A Brief History of Poseidon’s Fury

Poseidon’s Fury was an elaborate walkthrough attraction that placed guests in the middle of a battle between Poseidon and the villainous Lord Darkenon.

Guests traveled through the Temple of Poseidon while experiencing large-scale practical effects, projections, water features, fire effects, and one of the attraction’s most memorable illusions: a swirling water-vortex tunnel.

Poseidon’s Fury permanently closed in May 2023.

Although the attraction itself was no longer operating, its highly themed exterior remained standing for several years. Guests could still walk near portions of the temple facade and photograph the dramatic courtyard until construction walls began expanding through the area.

The latest demolition work means even those remaining pieces of the attraction are now rapidly disappearing.

What Is Replacing The Lost Continent?

Universal Orlando has not announced what new theme, attractions, restaurants, or experiences will replace Poseidon’s Fury, The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad, or The Lost Continent as a whole.

Universal previously confirmed that the area was being prepared for future development, but no specific intellectual property or attraction lineup has been officially revealed.

That has not stopped theme park fans from speculating about what could eventually take over this valuable section of Universal’s Islands of Adventure. However, until Universal makes an announcement, any rumored replacement (including frequently discussed Nintendo-based possibilities) remains unconfirmed.

The only thing we know for certain is that Universal is clearing substantial portions of The Lost Continent, and the pace of demolition appears to be accelerating.

The End of an Era at Islands of Adventure

The Lost Continent was one of the original lands that welcomed guests when Universal’s Islands of Adventure opened in 1999.

Over time, the land gradually became smaller. Its former Merlinwood section was transformed into part of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Hogsmeade, while other attractions and entertainment offerings closed one by one.

Now, with the Sindbad theater demolished and some of Poseidon’s Fury’s most recognizable exterior elements reduced to rubble, the remaining traces of the original land are disappearing faster than ever.

There is still a lot we do not know about the future of this corner of Universal’s Islands of Adventure. But the removal of Poseidon’s trident, both giant feet, a sea-creature brazier, and other courtyard elements makes one thing very clear: Universal is officially closing the book on Poseidon’s Fury.

And whatever comes next could completely reshape this side of the park.
