Think you’ve mastered Toy Story Mania? Disney says you might be missing some of the attraction’s biggest scoring opportunities.

Whether you’re determined to beat your family, earn “Best in Vehicle,” or simply improve your personal best, Disney has officially shared some of its favorite tips for racking up a higher score on Toy Story Mania! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney California Adventure, and Tokyo DisneySea.

From hidden bonus targets to secret gameplay tricks, here’s how to maximize your score the next time you shrink down to the size of a toy.

Disney recently released an official guide to help guests uncover some of the biggest point opportunities hidden throughout Toy Story Mania!, just in time to celebrate the release of Toy Story 5. While quick reflexes certainly help, many of the attraction’s highest-scoring moments come from unlocking secret bonus sequences that casual riders often miss.

Don’t Waste the Practice Round

Although the opening practice game doesn’t award any points, Disney recommends using it to get comfortable with the spring-action launcher and develop a steady shooting rhythm before the real competition begins. Getting your aim dialed in early can make a noticeable difference once the scoring starts.

Listen to the Characters

Throughout the attraction, characters like Rex offer hints about upcoming games. Those voice cues often point toward hidden bonus targets or special scoring opportunities, so it’s worth paying attention instead of focusing only on rapid-fire shooting.

Unlock Hidden Bonus Targets

Every carnival game includes secret “Easter eggs” that can dramatically increase your score.

During Hamm & Eggs, aim for the fox hiding inside the henhouse to release bonus chickens worth extra points.

In Rex & Trixie’s Dino Darts, popping the balloons at the volcano triggers an eruption that fills the screen with valuable bonus balloons.

On Green Army Men Shoot Camp, coordinating with your ride partner to break special plates unlocks even more bonus targets.

During Buzz Lightyear’s Flying Tossers, ring all of the Little Green Aliens on the central rocket to reveal a hidden robot bonus game, then aim for the robot’s mouth whenever it opens for some of the attraction’s highest-scoring targets.

Finally, in Woody’s Rootin’ Tootin’ Shootin’ Gallery, clearing targets together and focusing on the final bonus target can add thousands of points before the ride ends.

Teamwork Can Actually Help You Win

Even though you’re competing against the person sitting next to you, some of the attraction’s largest bonuses only appear when both players work together to activate hidden sequences. Coordinating your shots can often produce a much higher score than simply firing as quickly as possible.

Pace Yourself

One surprising tip from experienced riders: don’t burn out your arm too early. Now the only question is…can you beat your personal best?

Toy Story Mania! is more physically demanding than many guests expect, and maintaining a consistent shooting rhythm throughout the attraction can help you stay accurate during the final, and often highest-scoring, game.
