A beloved shop inside EPCOT’s Mexico pavilion is closing its doors forever, and it’s happening fast.
I stopped by recently and got the details straight from the Cast Members working the shop themselves. Their last day open is August 31st. And right now, the entire inventory is marked 50% off…
…which tells you everything you need to know about how close this closure actually is. If you’ve had your eye on one of these colorful, whimsical carved creatures for your own collection (or as a genuinely unique souvenir for someone back home), this is very much a use-it-or-lose-it situation.
For anyone unfamiliar, alebrijes are vibrant, fantastical folk-art sculptures rooted in Mexican tradition, typically blending features from multiple animals into one wildly imaginative creature, all painted in bold, intricate patterns. They’ve always felt like one of the more special, harder-to-find souvenirs tucked into Plaza de Los Amigos, so seeing this selection go isn’t a small loss for Mexico pavilion regulars.
No word yet on what, if anything, is replacing this specific inventory once the closure happens, or whether alebrijes will show up elsewhere in the pavilion down the line. But if you want to grab one at half price before they’re gone for good, the clock is very much ticking.
