Disney is embracing artificial intelligence in a whole new way with the launch of a new AI Personal Shopping Assistant for the Disney Store iOS app. Announced as a pilot program, the new feature is designed to make discovering Disney merchandise easier by helping guests find products through natural, conversational interactions.
The AI Personal Shopping Assistant is currently being rolled out to select guests as part of a limited pilot. Once fully launched, the feature will become a built-in part of the Disney Store iOS app, allowing shoppers to search for products, receive recommendations, and browse merchandise using everyday language instead of traditional keyword searches.
Rather than scrolling through thousands of products, guests can ask the assistant questions such as finding gifts for a Disney fan, locating merchandise featuring a favorite character, or discovering new collectibles based on specific interests. Disney says the goal is to create a more personalized and seamless shopping experience, helping fans spend less time searching and more time enjoying the products they love.
The company notes that the AI assistant was created to solve one of the biggest challenges of online shopping: product discovery. With thousands of items available across Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and more, finding the perfect item can sometimes feel overwhelming. The new assistant aims to simplify that process through intelligent recommendations tailored to each conversation.
The technology is designed to respond naturally, creating an experience that feels more like chatting with a knowledgeable Disney shopping expert than using a traditional search bar.
