Good news for anyone who has been staring at the sky above Epic Universe feeling vaguely betrayed:

Universal

…the fireworks are back!

When we first covered the Celestial Goodnight fireworks going missing, the only explanation was a short, polite note from Universal Orlando that the pyrotechnics were temporarily unavailable due to a technical issue, with no timeline attached. That was on September 14, when several guests noticed the show had lost its big finale and started asking Universal about it online. Just over two weeks later, the answer is in: fireworks returned to the October 1 performance.

Epic Universe

It is worth being clear about how we know. Their return was confirmed by aerial photographer bioreconstruct and several other guests on social media, not by a formal announcement from Universal.

One guest, posting as TaylorTakesHHN, shared a 24-second clip of the fireworks and wrote that after a pretty decent hiatus, Celestial Goodnight looked back in full effect, adding that they had missed it so much. That is about as relatable as a reaction gets, and it also tells you how much a handful of minutes of pyrotechnics can matter to people who love this show.

So what was actually wrong? We still do not know. Universal never went beyond calling it a technical issue, and nothing in the reporting we have seen explains what failed or how it was fixed. That is fairly typical for park technical problems, which tend to get described in the vaguest terms possible and then quietly resolved. The important part is that the show is whole again.

If you want the context for why this finale matters so much, the history is actually pretty interesting. Epic Universe tested fireworks before the park opened in May 2025, but they did not become an official part of the nightly show right away. Before Celestial Goodnight, the park’s nightly show was the Cosmos Fountain Show, which debuted in April 2025, and much of what makes Celestial Goodnight work was built on top of that show’s fountains and effects. Then in June 2026, Universal announced that fireworks were officially coming to Epic Universe, after the company had been hiring fireworks technicians and installing equipment along the park’s fireworks launch peninsula. Celestial Goodnight premiered with fireworks in July 2026, which means the show had only been running with its full finale for a couple of months before the outage hit.

In other words, this was a very new feature that disappeared for a while right after everyone finally got to enjoy it. That probably explains why the reaction to its absence was so strong, and why guests were so quick to notice when it came back.

Universal

For anyone planning a visit, the practical takeaway is straightforward. If you have been holding off on seeing Celestial Goodnight because you did not want to miss the fireworks, you can stop waiting. Check the Universal Orlando app for showtimes on the day of your visit, since schedules can shift. And a small word of caution from experience: technical issues can recur with any show that depends on this much equipment, so it is worth keeping expectations realistic, even though everything appears to be working right now.

It is also a nice reminder of how much Epic Universe’s nighttime offerings have grown in a short time. A fountain show became a fountain show with a real finale, and a hiatus turned into a comeback within a couple of weeks. Not every theme park technical issue gets resolved that quickly, so credit where it is due.

If you saw the fireworks return in person, we would love to hear what you thought of the finale after the wait. And if you were not able to be there, do not worry, there are plenty of nights left to catch the full show.

We will keep tracking Epic Universe’s nighttime entertainment and let you know if anything changes, so check back with Theme Park Scope for updates.
