Disney World just changed one of its most valuable nighttime perks, and Deluxe Resort guests will want to double-check their park plans.
Extended Evening Theme Park Hours can be a major vacation-planning win for guests staying at select Walt Disney World Deluxe Resorts, Deluxe Villa Resorts, and other qualifying hotels. But if you were planning on using this perk for a late night at Magic Kingdom, there’s an important schedule update to know before you finalize that itinerary.
Walt Disney World has updated the Extended Evening Hours calendar, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom is stepping in for Magic Kingdom on two upcoming dates: Wednesday, August 26, 2026, and Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
Both Animal Kingdom Extended Evening Hours events will run from 6 PM to 8 PM, following regular Disney’s Animal Kingdom park hours of 8 AM to 6 PM.
That means eligible guests will get two additional hours in Disney’s Animal Kingdom after the park closes to regular day guests. Extended Evening Hours are available to guests staying at Disney Deluxe Resorts, Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts, and other participating hotels, making this one of the more valuable on-site perks for Walt Disney World vacation planning.
This update is especially important because Magic Kingdom is often one of the biggest draws for Extended Evening Hours. A late-night Magic Kingdom visit and an evening at Animal Kingdom are two very different planning experiences, so guests visiting in late August or early September will want to adjust expectations accordingly.
During Extended Evening Hours at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, eligible guests may be able to experience select attractions, merchandise locations, and food and beverage offerings. The listed attraction lineup includes Avatar Flight of Passage, Expedition Everest — Legend of the Forbidden Mountain, Na’vi River Journey, and Zootopia: Better Zoogether!
As always, Disney notes that offerings, attractions, entertainment, merchandise, food and beverage locations, and operating schedules are subject to change. Guests should continue checking the My Disney Experience app and the official Walt Disney World calendar as their travel dates get closer.
Guests planning to take advantage of Extended Evening Hours must have valid admission and use a MagicBand, Disney MagicMobile pass, or Key to the World Card. If using a ticket with Park Hopper benefits and a theme park reservation is required for that ticket type, guests must first enter the park where they made their reservation before hopping to another park.
For Walt Disney World Deluxe Resort guests, this is the kind of schedule change that can quietly impact your entire vacation strategy. If you were counting on extra time at Magic Kingdom on August 26 or September 2, 2026, it may be time to revisit your plans and decide whether Disney’s Animal Kingdom still fits into your evening schedule.
