One of Epic Universe’s most magical locations just received a little extra legal protection.

Universal

Warner Bros. Entertainment has filed a new trademark application for “Cosme Acajor,” the name of the wand shop located inside The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic at Universal Epic Universe. While the filing may have initially sparked speculation among Harry Potter fans, it appears to be a straightforward move to secure the name of one of the newest Wizarding World locations.

The trademark application was recently filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and covers International Class 028, specifically identifying “play wands” as the protected goods.

According to the trademark filing, the application includes:

  • Wordmark: COSME ACAJOR
  • Owner: Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.
  • Goods & Services: International Class 028 – Play wands
  • Serial Number: 99887606
  • Application Status: Pending

The filing specifically covering play wands makes perfect sense given Cosme Acajor’s role within Epic Universe.

What Is Cosme Acajor?

Guests visiting The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic at Epic Universe will find Cosme Acajor serving as the land’s signature wand shop.

Inspired by the wizarding world of 1920s Paris as seen in the Fantastic Beasts films, the shop offers guests the opportunity to purchase interactive wands that can be used throughout the land to cast spells at dozens of magical locations.

The beautifully themed boutique also tells the story of Cosme Acajor, a celebrated French wandmaker whose craftsmanship has earned worldwide recognition within the Wizarding World.

Why File the Trademark Now?

Although Epic Universe has already opened to guests, it’s not unusual for companies to continue filing trademarks as new attractions, shops, characters, and merchandise lines are introduced.

Because the application specifically lists play wands, the filing likely helps Warner Bros. protect the Cosme Acajor brand for the sale of Wizarding World wand products and related merchandise.

Trademark filings like this are a routine part of protecting intellectual property and don’t necessarily indicate that new products or experiences are on the way.

A Key Part of Epic Universe’s Wizarding World

Cosme Acajor has quickly become one of the standout retail experiences inside The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic.

In addition to offering exclusive interactive wands, the shop’s elaborate theming expands the Wizarding World mythology by introducing guests to one of France’s most legendary wandmakers. The location also serves as the starting point for many guests eager to experience the land’s next-generation spellcasting effects, which build upon the interactive wand experiences first introduced in Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley.

With Epic Universe continuing to welcome guests from around the world, it’s no surprise that Warner Bros. is ensuring one of the land’s signature locations is properly protected through trademark registration.

While this filing doesn’t hint at a major expansion or new attraction, it does represent another behind-the-scenes step in establishing the long-term future of the Wizarding World at Universal’s newest theme park.
