One of Universal Orlando’s most popular attractions has been closed for months, and while guests have only been able to catch small glimpses of the work from outside the construction walls, new aerial photos have finally given us a much better look at the massive refurbishment project currently underway.

Jurassic Park River Adventure at Universal’s Islands of Adventure has been closed since January 5, 2026, for an extended refurbishment, and the attraction is not expected to reopen until November 19, 2026.

Thanks to new aerial photos shared by bioreconstruct on X, fans can now get a rare behind-the-scenes look at the progress taking place throughout the attraction.

The photos also reveal extensive scaffolding throughout the attraction’s paddock area, where crews appear to be working on significant structural improvements. New wall construction can be seen rising high above the attraction, with scaffolding extending throughout the work zone.

For many fans, the images serve as a reminder of just how massive Jurassic Park River Adventure really is. The attraction occupies a huge footprint within Islands of Adventure, and the latest photos show construction activity spread across multiple areas of the ride.

The aerial photos also reveal a couple of encouraging developments for longtime fans of the attraction.

According to BioReconstruct, the Ultrasaurus mechanical neck has returned to the attraction during the refurbishment process. In addition, one of the ride’s boats has been spotted back on-site after previously being stored near Epic Universe while refurbishment work was underway.

With the project now roughly halfway through its scheduled refurbishment timeline, it’s clear that crews have completed a significant amount of work since the attraction closed earlier this year.

The Countdown to Reopening Continues

While November may still feel a long way off for Jurassic Park fans, these new aerial photos show that progress is continuing throughout the attraction.
