The countdown is officially ON for Universal’s brand-new kids’ theme park.
Universal Destinations & Experiences has officially confirmed that Universal Kids Resort in Frisco, Texas, will open to guests on July 1, 2026. The brand-new resort marks the first Universal theme park designed entirely around families with younger children.
Universal Kids Resort will feature themed lands inspired by Shrek, Puss in Boots, Trolls, Jurassic World, SpongeBob SquarePants, Minions, and Gabby’s Dollhouse.
The park is specifically designed for preschool and younger elementary-age children with family-friendly rides, interactive play areas, character encounters, splash zones, and sensory-friendly experiences throughout the resort.
A Fully Themed Hotel Opens Too
The resort will also include a colorful 300-room on-site hotel located directly at the entrance of the park. Universal says the hotel is designed specifically for families with younger kids and will feature immersive theming, interactive elements, and easy access to the park itself.
A HUGE Expansion for Universal
Universal Kids Resort represents a major expansion for Universal Destinations & Experiences beyond its traditional Orlando and Hollywood markets. The project also arrives just after the opening of Epic Universe in Orlando, showing how aggressively Universal continues expanding its theme park footprint.
Universal building an entire park specifically for younger kids feels like a VERY smart move.
