One of Universal Orlando’s most popular attractions is about to work VERY differently.
Universal Orlando Resort has officially announced that Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure at Islands of Adventure will no longer accept Universal Express Pass beginning July 1, 2026.
According to Universal, the move is being made as an “operational update” designed to improve overall guest flow at the attraction after standby wait times ballooned in recent months.
Since Express Pass access was added to Hagrid’s in May 2025, standby wait times have regularly exploded well beyond two hours — with some days reaching more than three hours posted wait time for the Wizarding World coaster.
That’s especially notable because Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure has already been one of the most in-demand rides at Universal Orlando ever since it opened back in 2019.
The attraction remains one of the resort’s biggest crowd-pullers thanks to its launches, immersive Forbidden Forest setting, magical creature encounters, and surprise backward launch sequence that still catches first-time riders off guard.
Interestingly, a large portion of Universal fans online appear to support the decision.
Many guests have argued for months that adding Express Pass access significantly worsened standby waits and negatively impacted overall ride operations. Some fans even claimed that standby queues moved painfully slowly once Express riders were merged into the attraction’s load area.
And honestly? If you’ve walked through Hogsmeade lately, you’ve probably seen just how massive the Hagrid’s line has become.
A lot of guests are now hopeful that removing Express access could help stabilize wait times and improve the standby experience overall.
Of course, not every Universal guest is thrilled about the update.
Some Premier Annual Passholders and guests paying premium prices for Universal Express Pass access feel frustrated that one of the resort’s most popular attractions will no longer be included in the offering.
For many visitors, Hagrid’s was one of the main reasons they purchased Express in the first place — especially during peak travel seasons.
Now, guests wanting to ride Hagrid’s will likely need to rely on early park admission, strategic timing, or simply waiting in standby.
The change could have ripple effects across Islands of Adventure crowd patterns this summer.
If standby lines improve at Hagrid’s, it may help spread guests more evenly throughout the park. But it could also push more Express users toward other major attractions like Jurassic World VelociCoaster, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, and The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man.
