This project just hit a HUGE milestone at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
After months of construction walls, blocked pathways, and constant transformation work, Disney has officially removed major sections of the construction walls around the new Walt Disney Studios Courtyard, finally allowing guests to walk through the reimagined area for the first time. And honestly? It’s already looking VERY different from the old Animation Courtyard.
New photos shared online today show guests freely walking through expanded pathways inside the reimagined Walt Disney Studios Courtyard area at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The updated space replaces much of the former Animation Courtyard as Disney continues transforming this section of the park into a land inspired by the real Walt Disney Studios lot in Burbank, California.
The newly opened walkways reveal expanded courtyard pathways, new pavement and landscaping, updated studio-inspired architecture, fresh paint and theming, additional signage and decorative details, and a better view of The Magic of Disney Animation building.
And now the entire area already feels WAY more alive than the old Animation Courtyard did!
The New Walt Disney Studios Theme Is Becoming MUCH More Visible
With the walls finally coming down, guests can now get a much better look at Disney’s new Burbank-inspired theming throughout the area.
The updated courtyard includes design elements inspired by the actual Walt Disney Studios campus in California, including studio-style buildings, courtyard greenery, animation-inspired details, new signage, the updated Magic of Disney Animation façade, and the returning Sorcerer Mickey hat.
Disney has also been steadily adding smaller hidden details throughout the space over the past several weeks, including the iconic Pluto’s Corner street sign and replica Walt Disney Studios entrance signage.
More Experiences Are Still Coming
While guests can now walk around portions of the courtyard, Disney still has additional openings planned for later this summer.
The reimagined area will eventually include The Magic of Disney Animation, Disney character experiences, Drawn to Wonderland indoor play area, new Disney Jr. offerings, and expanded courtyard seating and relaxation areas.
Disney previously confirmed that Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! officially opens on May 26th, while The Magic of Disney Animation will debut later this summer.
Hollywood Studios Is Changing FAST Right Now
The opening of the Walt Disney Studios Courtyard is just one part of the massive transformation currently happening throughout Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Between Monstropolis construction, the new Monsters Inc. Door Vault coaster, Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, the reimagined animation spaces, and new entertainment offerings, the park honestly feels like it’s evolving faster than it has in years.
And now that the walls are finally coming down, guests can actually start experiencing some of those changes firsthand.
