Disney just added a VERY deep-cut piece of Disney history to Hollywood Studios, and longtime fans are absolutely going to recognize it!

As Disney continues transforming Animation Courtyard into the upcoming Walt Disney Studios area at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Imagineers have installed one of the most iconic landmarks from the real Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California: the famous Pluto’s Corner street sign.
Disney recently installed a recreation of the legendary Pluto’s Corner sign featuring the intersection of Mickey Avenue and Dopey Drive inside the new Walt Disney Studios Lot area currently under construction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The sign is a near replica of the real-world version located at the Walt Disney Studios campus in Burbank, California — a longtime fan-favorite photo location for Disney historians, animators, Cast Members, and D23 visitors.
The recreated sign even includes vintage directional references pointing toward departments like Ink & Paint, Animation, Layout Department, Special EFX, Multiplane, and In Between, just like the original studio prop.

The original Pluto’s Corner sign dates back to the 1941 Disney film The Reluctant Dragon, which gave audiences an early behind-the-scenes look inside Walt Disney Studios during the Golden Age of animation.
According to Disney historians, the sign was originally created as temporary set dressing for the film’s studio tour sequence, but it became so iconic that it was never removed from the Burbank lot.
Today, the real Pluto’s Corner remains one of the most photographed locations at Walt Disney Studios. And now Disney World guests are getting their own version.

The Pluto’s Corner installation is part of the larger transformation of Animation Courtyard into the new Walt Disney Studios area at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The reimagined land is inspired directly by the real Walt Disney Studios campus in California and will include the new Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! show, The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure, the returning Magic of Disney Animation experience, new Burbank-inspired architecture and signage, as well as additional themed details and updated facades.
Additional signage has recently been added throughout the area, including new “Studio Theater” branding and updated Animation building elements beneath the Sorcerer Mickey hat.

One of the most interesting things about this project is how much Disney appears to be embracing the original identity of Disney’s Hollywood Studios again.
We’ll continue watching for more updates as the Walt Disney Studios Lot prepares to officially open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios later this month, so be sure to check back soon for more Disney World news, construction updates, attraction changes, entertainment announcements, and theme park coverage.
