Disney Imagineering absolutely LOADED this attraction with hidden details.

Disney

Ahead of the May 26 opening of Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Walt Disney Imagineering has officially revealed an enormous collection of Easter eggs, hidden tributes, callbacks, and references built throughout the attraction, and this thing sounds like an emotional roller coaster for longtime Muppet fans!

From tributes to Jim Henson and MuppetVision 3D to nods to the original Aerosmith version of the ride…

Disney

…Imagineers appear to have hidden references in almost EVERY part of the experience.

Disney Hid a Tribute to Jim Henson Inside the Attraction

According to Walt Disney Imagineering, honoring the legacy of Muppets creator Jim Henson was one of the most important priorities while creating the attraction.

Disney

Imagineering confirmed that guests will be able to find a hidden tribute to Henson “hanging around” somewhere inside the ride, “in Muppet form, of course.”

That alone is probably going to make longtime Muppet fans emotional.

Disney

The tribute feels especially meaningful considering MuppetVision 3D was one of the final projects Henson personally worked on before his death in 1990.

Multiple MuppetVision 3D Props Were SAVED and Moved Into the Ride

One of the biggest surprises Imagineering revealed is that several original props and figures from the now-closed MuppetVision 3D attraction were preserved and relocated into Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets.

Disney

Disney confirmed that the following pieces from MuppetVision 3D now appear somewhere inside the attraction: the original Statler and Waldorf audio-animatronics, the famous MuppetVision 3D sarcophagus, the 3D glasses prop from the pre-show area, and the penguin audio engineer figures.

Disney

Imagineering also stated that “70-plus years of The Muppets” are represented throughout the attraction through props, references, and hidden visual callbacks scattered from the queue all the way to the gift shop.

Which sounds WAY more like a Muppets museum than a simple coaster retheme!

Even the Dialogue References Old Disney Attractions

Imagineering revealed that the attraction’s script itself includes direct callbacks to both MuppetVision 3D and the original Aerosmith version of Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster.

That means longtime Disney fans may hear references to old pre-show dialogue, callback jokes tied to MuppetVision 3D, hidden nods to Aerosmith-era story elements, and meta humor about the original attraction.

Disney specifically confirmed that eagle-eyed fans will notice references layered throughout the queue, pre-show, ride, and exit areas.

Disney

And yes — it absolutely sounds like Imagineering expects fans to ride this multiple times just to catch everything!

Scooter’s Animatronic Is Packed With Hidden Details

The attraction also introduces the world’s FIRST-ever audio-animatronic version of Scooter.

Disney

According to Imagineering, Disney worked directly with Muppets Studio and performer David Rudman to motion-capture Scooter’s movements so the figure would move exactly like the real puppet.

Inside the pre-show, Scooter attempts to keep The Electric Mayhem focused while penguin audio engineers scramble around the recording studio trying to prepare for the concert.

Disney

The entire scene reportedly contains countless hidden props, backstage jokes, fake concert posters, references to old Muppets productions, and music-industry parody humor throughout the recording studio environment.

Disney Also Included Tributes to Aerosmith

Even though the attraction is now fully Muppets-themed, Imagineering confirmed that tributes to the original Aerosmith version of the coaster were intentionally preserved inside the new experience.

Disney

According to Imagineering:

“Even the dialogue has references to…the original version of Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster.”

Fans reportedly may spot preserved props from the original attraction, hidden references to the old pre-show, backstage pass nods, and music-industry callbacks tied to Aerosmith-era storylines.

Disney

All of which feels like a VERY smart move considering how beloved the original coaster was for Disney fans.

Celebrity Cameos Are Hidden Throughout the Queue

Disney also packed the attraction with celebrity appearances and references tied to the coaster’s new soundtrack and story.

Disney

Confirmed celebrity cameos include:

  • Kelly Clarkson
  • Jennifer Hudson
  • Darren Criss
  • John Stamos
  • Awkwafina
  • Danny Trejo
  • Weird Al Yankovic

The attraction’s queue and pre-show reportedly feature fake tour ads, concert posters, album references, and backstage details tied to these performers and The Electric Mayhem’s fictional concert history.

The Ride Vehicles and Storyline Are Full of References Too

The updated story centers around The Electric Mayhem trying to make it across Hollywood in time for a massive concert while guests speed behind them in rainbow-colored vehicles.

Disney

Disney confirmed the ride vehicles themselves now feature colorful updated paint schemes inspired by Electric Mayhem’s psychedelic aesthetic.

Meanwhile, the pre-show introduces guests to Muppet Labs’ newest transportation invention:

The “Lengthy Immediate Motion Object” — or L.I.M.O. That acronym alone feels like peak Muppets chaos.

This Attraction Sounds Like a Massive Love Letter to Muppet Fans

Between the preserved MuppetVision 3D props, Jim Henson tribute, Aerosmith callbacks, celebrity cameos, hidden dialogue references, and decades of Muppet history packed into the queue, Imagineering clearly approached this attraction as MUCH more than a simple overlay.

Disney

For many Disney fans still emotional about losing MuppetVision 3D, the attraction honestly sounds like Disney’s attempt to preserve pieces of that legacy inside an entirely new experience.

And honestly? It sounds like Imagineering may have gone WAY harder on the details than anyone expected.
