Another piece of original Islands of Adventure history may soon disappear.

Mystic Fountain

According to new rumors circulating online, the beloved Mystic Fountain located inside Sindbad’s Bazaar in The Lost Continent at Universal Islands of Adventure could permanently close as early as next week.

According to the circulating reports, the Mystic Fountain’s rumored final operating day may be Friday, May 15, 2026. Universal Orlando has not officially confirmed the closure at this time.

Final chances to say goodbye

The interactive fountain has been a staple of The Lost Continent since Islands of Adventure opened in 1999. Located within Sindbad’s Bazaar, the fountain features a talking water spirit capable of interacting directly with guests — often joking with them, answering questions, and occasionally spraying unsuspecting visitors with water.

For many guests, it became one of those quirky little Universal experiences that somehow turned into a tradition every single visit.

The rumored closure comes as Universal continues the phased shutdown and transformation of The Lost Continent area at Islands of Adventure.

Over the years, the original land has steadily lost several major experiences, including:

  • The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad
  • Poseidon’s Fury
  • Various entertainment offerings and themed spaces

Universal recently confirmed that The Lost Continent itself will eventually permanently close as part of plans for a future new themed area. Mythos Restaurant is also currently scheduled to close in 2027.

The Lost Continent walls

The Mystic Fountain has quietly become one of the last remaining pieces of the park’s original 1999 version still actively operating.

Following the rumors, longtime Universal Orlando fans immediately began sharing memories and reactions across social media and Annual Passholder groups.

For many guests, the Mystic Fountain wasn’t just a simple interactive effect; it became a ritual stop inside Islands of Adventure for families visiting year after year.

The attraction’s personality-driven interactions, unexpected humor, and occasional water sprays helped make it one of the park’s most unique atmospheric experiences despite technically not being a “ride” at all.

The Mystic Fountain

Another lesser-known detail about the Mystic Fountain is its connection to charity.

According to Attractions Magazine, coins tossed into the fountain are donated to Give Kids The World Village, continuing a tradition shared by many decorative fountains throughout Orlando theme parks.

The Lost Continent

As of now, Universal Orlando Resort has not publicly announced any official closure date for the Mystic Fountain.

Still, given the ongoing demolition and redevelopment plans surrounding The Lost Continent, many fans believe the closure would align with Universal’s larger long-term transformation plans for the area.

And if the rumored May 15 closure date is accurate, guests may only have a few more days left to hear the fountain joke, interact, and spray guests one final time.
