Another MAJOR change is officially coming to Universal Islands of Adventure.
Universal Orlando Resort has confirmed that Thunder Falls Terrace at Universal Islands of Adventure will permanently close later this summer as the location prepares for a complete transformation into an all-new dining experience.
The longtime Jurassic Park-area restaurant will be reimagined into what the resort is calling the park’s new signature full-service restaurant. The updated dining location is currently scheduled to debut sometime in 2027.
Thunder Falls Terrace has been a staple of Islands of Adventure for years, serving rotisserie chicken, ribs, rice bowls, salads, and other quick-service offerings while overlooking the splashdown area of Jurassic Park River Adventure.
Universal has not yet revealed the official name, menu, storyline, or theme for the new restaurant concept. However, the announcement signals a major upgrade for dining inside Islands of Adventure, which currently has limited full-service restaurant options compared to other Orlando theme parks.
The closure also continues Universal Orlando’s ongoing resort-wide evolution as the company expands dining, entertainment, and guest experiences ahead of the continued growth surrounding Universal Epic Universe.
At this time, Universal has not announced an exact closing date for Thunder Falls Terrace beyond confirming the restaurant will shut down sometime this summer.
For longtime Universal Orlando fans, the closure marks the end of another classic Islands of Adventure location as the resort continues modernizing several areas across the parks.
