Mickey and friends are ready to get groovy, and we’ve finally gotten our first official look at what they’ll be wearing for Tokyo Disneyland’s newest stage show!
Tokyo Disney Resort has revealed Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy in their colorful new costumes for The D-Groovationz4 Live: Happy! Funky! Groovy! Tour, the brand-new live entertainment experience debuting at Tokyo Disneyland on September 30, 2026.
The new looks largely match the concept art previously released for the production, but this is our first opportunity to see the finished costumes on Mickey and the gang themselves. And subtle is definitely not the direction Disney went here.
Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy are dressed for what looks like a high-energy concert, with bold colors, patterns, metallic-looking accents, and distinctly modern styling that separates these costumes from their more traditional park looks. The outfits also fit the premise of the new production.
The D-Groovationz4 Live isn’t being presented as a traditional Disney musical or character revue. Instead, Tokyo Disney Resort describes it as an exhilarating concert built around the idea that music can bring people together.
Mickey and his friends will join an all-star group of vocalists and dancers known as The D-Groovationz4, with the show combining live vocals and dancing into a roughly 25-minute performance.
Guests can expect both original songs and new arrangements of familiar Disney music, giving the production more of a contemporary concert atmosphere than a straightforward collection of classic Disney songs.
And Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy won’t be the only Disney characters getting involved.
Baymax and Vanellope Are Joining the Party
Two particularly interesting characters are also expected to appear: Baymax from Big Hero 6 and Vanellope from Wreck-It Ralph. Their inclusion isn’t completely random. Both franchises have an increasingly significant connection to Tomorrowland at Tokyo Disneyland.
Baymax already has a major presence in the land through The Happy Ride with Baymax, while Wreck-It Ralph is getting its own attraction as part of the transformation of the former Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters space.
But the new show will mark an important first for both characters. When Disney originally announced The D-Groovationz4 Live, it confirmed that the production would mark the first time Baymax and Vanellope appear in a stage show at Tokyo Disney Resort.
That gives the new production an interesting role beyond simply replacing the previous entertainment at Showbase. It also helps reflect what Tomorrowland itself is becoming.
The land is in the middle of a substantial period of change, with the new Wreck-It Ralph attraction on the way and an entirely reimagined Space Mountain project planned for the future.
Adding Baymax and Vanellope to the entertainment lineup helps bring some of those newer characters directly into Tomorrowland’s live entertainment.
The New Show Replaces Club Mouse Beat
The D-Groovationz4 Live will take over Showbase, the indoor theater located in Tomorrowland. The venue was previously home to Club Mouse Beat, which concluded its nearly five-year run on March 31, 2026, clearing the way for the new production.
Guests won’t have to worry about Tokyo weather once they’re inside, either. Showbase is an indoor venue, and Tokyo Disney Resort says performances can continue during rainy conditions. Opening day is currently scheduled to include five performances.
On September 30, shows are scheduled for 12:30 PM, 1:55 Pm, 3:20 PM, 5:25 PM, and 6:50 PM. Performance times can change, and Tokyo Disney Resort publishes future monthly schedules as dates approach.
But knowing the showtimes isn’t quite enough if you’re hoping to see it. That’s because access works differently than simply lining up outside the theater.
You May Need an Entry Request, Or You Can Pay for Premier Access
Tokyo Disney Resort has confirmed that The D-Groovationz4 Live will participate in its Entry Request system beginning September 30. Entry Request is a complimentary system available through the Tokyo Disney Resort App. Once you’ve entered Tokyo Disneyland, you can submit a request for eligible entertainment.
If you’re assigned an available performance time, you’ll be able to enter the venue during the designated window. But an Entry Request isn’t guaranteed.
If the app returns an unsuccessful result, you won’t have Entry Request access to that experience that day. Tokyo Disney Resort notes that some non-reserved seating may occasionally be available depending on operating conditions, but guests shouldn’t assume they’ll be able to simply walk up and get a seat.
There’s also a paid option. Disney Premier Access for The D-Groovationz4 Live costs ¥2,500 per person, allowing guests to purchase access to a designated performance time and assigned viewing location. That’s an especially useful detail for international travelers.
If this show is high on your Tokyo Disneyland must-do list and you only have one day in the park, relying solely on a complimentary Entry Request introduces the possibility that you won’t be selected. Premier Access provides another option for guests willing to pay to make the show a more predictable part of their itinerary.
Tokyo Disney Resort Vacation Packages will also have designated seating areas for eligible package guests. And members of Tokyo Disney Resort’s official Funderful Disney fan club will have their own designated viewing area for eligible performances from September 30 through November 30, 2026.
Disney is even giving some Funderful Disney members an opportunity to see the production before everyone else. A special preview is scheduled for September 29, one day before the official debut, with 425 winning groups (850 guests total) receiving access to the approximately 25-minute preview performance.
Why This Show Is Worth Watching
It’s easy to look at a costume reveal like this as a relatively small Tokyo Disneyland update, but The D-Groovationz4 Live arrives during a particularly interesting period for the park. Tokyo Disney Resort has been investing heavily in both attractions and entertainment.
Tokyo DisneySea is celebrating its 25th anniversary with the Sparkling Jubilee, while Tokyo Disneyland is simultaneously preparing for major Tomorrowland changes.
The D-Groovationz4 Live fits into that evolution by giving Showbase a completely new production while incorporating characters increasingly associated with the future of Tomorrowland.
And based on Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy’s new costumes, Disney doesn’t appear to be aiming for a quiet show. The entire concept is built around energy: live singers, dancers, new music, reimagined Disney songs, colorful costumes, and characters coming together for what Tokyo Disney Resort is positioning as a full concert experience.
We’ll have to wait until September to see exactly how all those pieces come together. But Mickey and friends certainly look ready for the stage.
