A brand-new era for Star Wars may officially be underway.

For the first time since major leadership changes at both Disney and Lucasfilm earlier this year, the newest executives overseeing the company reportedly gathered together to discuss the future of the Star Wars franchise and the direction of upcoming films, television series, and other projects.
The meeting marks a significant moment for Lucasfilm following the departure of longtime Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy earlier this year. In January 2026, Disney officially announced that Dave Filoni would become President and Chief Creative Officer of Lucasfilm, while Lynwen Brennan stepped into the role of co-president overseeing business operations and strategy.
According to reports, the newly assembled leadership group included Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro, Dave Filoni, Lynwen Brennan, and other Lucasfilm executives as they discussed long-term plans for Star Wars across theatrical releases, Disney+ projects, and franchise expansion efforts.
The leadership shake-up comes during a major transition period for Lucasfilm and the Star Wars franchise. Disney has already confirmed several upcoming theatrical projects, including The Mandalorian & Grogu and Star Wars: Starfighter, as the company works to reestablish Star Wars on the big screen following a multi-year theatrical hiatus.
Dave Filoni’s promotion has been especially notable among Star Wars fans. Filoni previously worked directly with Star Wars creator George Lucas and became heavily involved in shaping modern Star Wars storytelling through projects including Star Wars: The Clone Wars, The Mandalorian, and Ahsoka.

Meanwhile, Lynwen Brennan brings decades of operational and production experience to the leadership team after serving in executive roles at Lucasfilm and Industrial Light & Magic since 1999.
While Disney has not publicly revealed specific details from the meeting, reports indicate the discussion focused heavily on the future creative direction of Star Wars as the franchise enters its next phase under the new leadership structure.

With multiple Star Wars theatrical films, Disney+ series, gaming projects, and theme park integrations currently in development, many fans are closely watching how the franchise evolves under the new executive team.
We’ll continue following the latest Star Wars news, Lucasfilm developments, Disney entertainment updates, casting announcements, and franchise expansions, so be sure to check back soon for even more updates.
